Imagine what it'd be like if we had great ventilation and HEPA filters in schools. Your whole family doesn't have to regularly get colds/flu. There'd be less absenteeism and higher productivity (I care less about that part myself but it should be a big selling point for businesses and capitalists). It'd reduce healthcare needs and cost. There's no downside to this.

@jjLitkeLots of schools don't even have HVAC systems. Wealth divide.

@jjLitke>"According to a report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, 41 percent of school districts nationwide, or around 36 thousand schools, do not have air conditioning, which multiple studies have shown tampers with learning."

@chris True, or they have it but it hardly works. School infrastructure should be high priority.

@chris I was summarizing a narrow angle (about illness), thanks for adding a broader perspective.

@chris No no, that was a genuine thank you! I appreciate the reminder about how important HVAC is. It's another really good selling point on why we need to invest in this for our schools.

@jjLitkePeople think of HVAC at merely temps control but it's also allow moving air, filtering air, cleaning air, also dehumanization helps mitigate mould and mildew. Black mold is a killer.
