@lowqualityfacts It's a sound strategy. Every launch of ashes lessens the Earth's mass by that much, which in turn lowers the Earth's gravitational pull.So with every launch of ashes into space, the *next* launch gets that much easier. It's so simple...

@lowqualityfacts In their kitchens they have Swiss. Hidden in their bunkers they keep Monterey Jack.

@lowqualityfacts I think a variation of this gives you a Larry Niven essay (radioactive coins, if I recall correctly).

@futurebird I'll toss my hat into that ring.Adding to my exasperation, the people who write goto-ridden code to "prove" how bad FORTRAN is. C'mon, people, F77 has been around since 1977, it's in the name.

@ZachWeinersmith I wonder if it's related to our practice of moving holidays to Monday, which made it easier to have an extended sale. Thanks, Uniform Monday Holiday Bill!

@ZachWeinersmith Hm, this immediately made me think of oxtail soup, though nothing I read said anything about poverty, and in fact it seems to be considered a delicacy.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxtail_soup

@futurebird That's a strange poster. Platonic and Archimedean solids followed by... prisms and Johnson solids? No mention of Catalan solids at all?https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalan_solid

@xbezdick @aral What?Red Hat was a 3.4 billion dollar company at the time of its acquisition by IBM. You don't reach that solely through unpaid volunteers.

@futurebird @jgordon @babelcarp I can sympathize. I had one (and only one) job that used open floor plan and I will cheer on cubicles and sing their praises if it means that no one has to suffer through open floor plan again.

@futurebird And of course it's an established "technique"."Bouly claimed to be able to detect unexploded ordnance from WW1 and also to detect molecular changes in laboratory experiments. He was the founder at Lille in 1929 of the Association of the Friends of Radiesthesia (Association des Amis de la Radiesthésie)."https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiesthesia

@futurebird One day should be sufficient to get samples of silphium and secretly record the methods of making concrete.I'd need longer to hunt down lost manuscripts, and frankly I'd leave that job to someone else.

@futurebird I voted ants just because there's more of them. But honestly, I expect both groups of life forms to be around.Heck, humans might still be part of the primate group.

@mattblaze @adafruit Honestly, I can't see a reasonable explanation for carrying a flipper zero to an inauguration party. Given how lights and sound systems operate these days, I could even call it a sensible precaution (just because Guiliani and Cuomo aren't tech savvy, that doesn't mean they don't have disgruntled followers who are).But... have I been missing something in the Raspberry Pi world?
