@ConnyDuck Hey Conny, did this ever get worked out? There was some conversation going around on Fosstodon.org about Fediverse apps in general, and someone mentioned issues with Tusky getting updates and I stumbled into your posts here. Sounds like Google is being a pain in the arse once again.

@jasonbrooks Ah nice, do we know how close they are to exiting beta? I don't use it as my primary machine but I love keeping a VM current with the latest release to keep an eye on the project.

@cassidyjames Some of the Star Wars novels having female protagonists has actually gotten my wife to read a few of the novels and she's deep into "Rebel Rising" right now. She's keep bringing up how much little bits of "Andor" keeps reminding her of things she's read. It's pretty cool! The "Princess of Alderaan" novel she finished last, and seeing teen Leia starting to understand the state of the galaxy and her parents' involvement also seems to have really stuck with her.

All of this, just to serve ads to our computing illiterate friends and family. Tell me again that Metabook isn't a plague on our world? And I love big data centers. I even think the Open Compute Initiative they started has been interesting and maybe even beneficial to parts of the industry. Remember out there new #TwitterMigration folks - network effects only work if you stick around and share things. A social network dies with no socialing happening. Share things you like. Boost things you find interesting. And remember there is no algorithm to hold your hand and/or manipulate you, no ads to build up your tastes, so enjoy the process.

@mmasnick Reading all that, I still can't believe I got permanently suspended from Twitter for saying Republicans who want to take away elderly folks' social security should be punched in the nose. "Calls for targeted violence" was the reason. It was metaphorical of course and any rational human would see that in comparison to all of the other actually horrible lies and disinformation people spread around there.

@vwbusguy Yup, this exactly. It's one of the reasons if I'm ever able to get my Twitter account back I do intend to stick around. The reach is just far more broad - so I will keep trying to use Mastodon first whenever possible and go from there.
