Two things I miss about #Twitter are:1. Getting realtime news as things are happening2. Sometimes it's the only way to get the attention of a company when there's an issueTo be clear, Mastodon has a lot of advantages over Twitter, but this these are downsides from the way the global search currently works here.

Like, if I want to know what's going on in #Kherson today, a search of "Kherson" gives me nothing unless it's been tagged and there are few posts about Kherson that are actually tagged. They exist, but I have no way of reliably finding them. I can follow certain accounts that might talk about it, but that's not nearly the same level of aggregation.

There are more companies here than before, but sadly many companies handle support through Twitter DMs and making a public tweet is generally how get to the front of the line, even over following normal ticket systems. Yes, this is kind of ridiculous, but because it's so public, it works where regular support requests from the company are more often otherwise simply ignored. It's also an avenue for feedback about such a company when that happens.

@vwbusguy Yup, this exactly. It's one of the reasons if I'm ever able to get my Twitter account back I do intend to stick around. The reach is just far more broad - so I will keep trying to use Mastodon first whenever possible and go from there.

While I like that Mastodon tends to not reward 💩posting and that's a very good thing, this is one of the very few 💩post categories that may be actually productive.
