@icedquinn @gopiandcode @aadil I put this website together a while ago. Very difficult to recommend browsers but pretty much anything seems better than chromehttps://notochrome.org/ #NoToChromr

@ParadeGrotesque @karan The commercial arm which raises unrestricted income to support the non-profit is a common model - amnesty etc will have this too. I agree completely that they do have loads of money. It's frustrating that their commercial activity doesnt seem to be targeted at diversifying away from that Google money. Never has been from what I've seen.

@kravietz @chris @ScottMortimer Mozilla is effectively owned by Google already. They like it that way as it's handy for anti trust scrutiny.

@ChrisWere I'm sure there might be some reasonable stuff there - one zero? But some very smart people who should know better still seem to vomit their insights on there like it's a reasonable thing to do.

@alcinnz @chiraag Slightly off topic but I do think Kashmir Hill has got to be the best tech journo out there. This article on IP addresses blew my mind. https://gizmodo.com/how-cartographers-for-the-u-s-military-inadvertently-c-1830758394

@purism you owe me a refund. I paid for a phone in dec 19 with a promise of delivery apr 20. Still no phone. Stalled, stalled, stalled. You said when it was ready to ship I could have my money back waiting weeks and nothing. Card refund takes seconds. Don’t trust these guys.

@rohrkrepierer @purism my experience is almost identical to the scenario mentioned in the video. This company has consistently lied to me over the last four years.

@rohrkrepierer @purism they could use money from customers to pay for a lawyer I guess :) but seems somewhat unlikely given the weight of evidence

@hrefna I like the idea of websites having 'office hours' where they are off at night. Do you think this an absurd idea? Surely it could save a lot of electricity even the days is still kept on the drive. Is this a daft idea?
