You know what would get me to use Vulkan? If I could use it within an OpenGL context (or, more likely, vice-versa). That way it's like inline assembly—I can trust the compiler (driver) to do the right thing, optimize just the parts I need, or gradually convert everything over.

@peter @kyzh To be clear, Mapillary is not FOSS: They are and have been a for-profit company (by selling the image and recognition data to corps). (but yeah I was also disappointed regardless when I found out)

reading through code comments that use first-person pronouns like finding a worn, unsigned diary, on the beach of a forgotten island, that gives me hints to the next puzzle

@sublingual Are the lines supposed to change size with distance? I would expect a hatching shader to be post-processing, not surface shading.

I just remembered what crypto-art reminds me of: those “star registry” companies that will, for a fee, send you a certificate saying that a star is hereby named after you (even though that company is the only body that recognizes such a claim).

I can see why someone who believes that art's only value is monetary, would find NFTs, an invention to "own" an "original" digital work (introducing artificial scarcity), appealing. But that's an awfully pessimistic outlook, and it's not easy to override the nature of the medium.

@SuricrasiaOnline you have on there an entry for the general category of hardware-damaging software ("killer poke"), but I might suggest also adding some specific high-profile examples, like stuxnet, or violently destroying an electrical generator by turning an entire power grid against it ( https://www.wired.com/story/how-30-lines-of-code-blew-up-27-ton-generator/ )

I've been informed that, while Google employees are not allowed to incorporate AGPL code into Google products, they are not even allowed to *look* at WTFPL code, *even on personal time*. So if you really want to scare away corpos, that option has been proven.
