The smallest things are _always_ the ones that cause the biggest impact.Let this be my public shout out and acknowledgement of the great work that the people behind #RUNBSD do to spread the word on #BSDYou have my uttermost respect and heartfelt gratefulnessIt is your (and truly "yours only") altruistic and continued support that has enabled me to introduce dozens of people into the #BSD world. And I couldn't be more grateful for that! From Buenos Aires, Argentinahttps://www.runbsd.info/

@stefano I remember, not so long ago, having the same conversation in here, but in re "legal affairs". My conclusion is exactly the same. If the client wants "you" (the professional) to do as he says instead of what you know it's the right thing to do: just ask for at least 3 times more money than what you consider more than enough, and have them sign a document releasing you for all personal and professional liability. It works 99% of time, or you get a lot of money and no legal liability.

The Berne Convention (1886) and the Paris Act of (1971) belong to a world that no longer exists and their reason to be has been lost in time.I'm not saying "copyright" should be abolished. I'm saying #Copyright as we know it, is not sustainable anymore. It's an archaic notion that's been stalling knowledge democratization for humanity only for the sake of safeguarding the economic concentration of the precious few that are functional to the systemPlease feel free to prove me wrong.

And if you feel you can't prove me wrong, please _BOOST_ for REACH.That's what that icon is there for. It doesn't mean "endorsement" not "agreement" . It means "PROPAGATE IDEA ON A DECENTRALIZE NETWORK", because that's the backbone of how decentralized networks work. In any other case, no one but "you" will see it and the chances to prove me wrong will only pendulate between NULL an ZERO

On this day in 2003, Matthew Dillon sent out an email making an announcement that would go on to become a landmark in the history of the BSD family. The title read: "Announcing DragonFly BSD!"Happy 22th birthday #DragonFly #BSD!To many more year of challenging goals and ideals, cutting ties with legacy when it makes sense, preferring a pragmatic, no-nonsense approach to the development of the system and the innovative spirit ! ๐ ๐พ ๐ฅ ๐ฅณ#DragonFlyBSD #RUNBSD #HappyBirthdayDragonFlyBSD

@stefano I can't think of any other project that did more (or a better job) at closing the gap between #FreeBSD and the regular "everyday" computer user.Your endeavor and commitment outperformed every other attempt ever made (by the longest shot, and by any entity) to bridge that gap and put FreeBSD on the spotlight for those who felt the "itch" and those who still hadn't feel compelled to leave the "lurking" zone in the last (at least) 20 years.Happy birthday bsd.cafe! ๐๐พ๐ฅ๐ฅณ1/2

@stefano And congratulations on your ability to, single handedly, achieve what no other attempt ever achieved!.You actually managed to put a FreeBSD systems at the service of the general public, open a new world for those who didn't even know that FreeBSD existed, and even raised the eyebrows of those who knew about it but never cared to look outside their own comfort zone. And all of that speaks a lot louder about you and your work than about anything else! ๐2/2

It's not me: it's you!No, I'm not giving you my phone number nor my email. Your mobile is chock full of apps that harvest every bit of personal data they find in it and keep them to themselves to do who knows what, sell it to the best bidder and even do things I can't imagine. You may not care about your #privacy but I do care about mine. So, you are not getting my phone number even if you want to have my contact on #Signal.Want to stay in touch? I can give you my #XMPP address though.

Have you already grow tired of waiting for #Mastodon to implement some proper #Markdown support ?You still can't believe to be waiting for such a simple feature on 2026?Well .. you can keep waiting until you grow varicose veins on your legs, or just move to #snac2 , call it a 9 years old and be done with it! ๐ฅณ https://comam.es/snac-doc/snac.5.html

@collectifission and guess what?Today is actually #Jabberโor #XMPP, as it became known after standardization through the #IETF day! ๐ฅณ ๐ It is quite a pity that you left it out of your image, as it actually happens to be the very first #DiDay celebration date ever ...Celebrate your #DigitalIndependenceDay by moving to a truly vendor-independent, federated instant messaging platform like the one we celebrate today!Anyways, have a happy #DiDay everyone!#XMPP #DigitalSovereignty #JabberDay

@caten "There are people who say it's lacking technically, but I can't speak to this myself."And you are correct: Matrix is just an open protocol (like so many others before) whereas #XMPP is an open #IETF standard. So, yes, Matrix is "technically" lacking open IETF standarization.
