@aral Ah, I see now (www.redecker.de/en/home-and-yard/dusters-and-dust-brushes/laptop-brush-460003) the black part is for massaging the dirt into the nooks and grannies of the keyboard.Probably to provide a solid fossil record of our eat-at-work habits for future generations.

@aral @pinkdrunkenelephants Should they ship with no screen reader instead?Because they're in the business of packaging, not necessarily fixing, not fundamentally. So the real a-holes are probably the authors of the screen-reader, aren't they? And I wonder why they are not fixing their stuff... Any insights on this?

@futurebird Or a democratic president gets inspired by some ideas what an official act is and commits one and a certain would-be-president founds himself suddenly on a round-trip to Mars.

@futurebird "We must have the proper incentives here, too"Incentives to what, that is the question here. And what means "properly interpreted" in the mouth of Cliff Stearns? Given, e.g., this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliff_Stearns#Abortion

@futurebird "How could one measure ant job performance?" You would need to agree KPIs with them. Later you ask them and their peer ants which of the KPIs have been reached and you rate the ant accordingly.I, it's basic management, right?

@Computer @Nanard_Groubiche Citizen Nanard, just disregard the instructions from "Friend Computer". This pile of wires and semiconductor cannot even write a single poem, it seems. And as everybody knows war-poetry is the major technique of dominance, so ...

@futurebird "A man with the self-confidence and wisdom to be open about the support he has from his vice president. " 👆 This. Pretty important and frankly that this has been so under-emphasized reeks of racism and/or sexism from 6000 km away (meaning: If one is not involved directly in US pol culture, which also means I might be totally wrong and that biased emphasis might be due to the media I am using over here).

@oldladyplays @cmconseils That's the way it works today. We tell our kids not to talk to strangers (and even less to strange strangers), so the strange women have to leave the objects of power lying around conveniently so they can be found by the eligible children. It doesn't affect the legitimacy and efficacy of the hand-over (see the manual on transfer of worldly power by giving away significant artifacts).

@futurebird "lot of the nonsense that causes needless stress"Unfortunately also happens on the Fedi and not by the Media. I am not a US citizen (I should disclose), but the Fedi for me becomes unreadable in times of crisis (US election, the Gaza war). There are a lot of people around that (justified, I cannot or don't want to deny this) feel pain and then go and behave abominable here (probably to get rid of this inner pressure).Do I have point? => Thanks for the advice to keep distance.

@rms Don't make a law to prohibit landlords. Just outlaw the servers. I am sure there will be a mob of vigilantes who will be only too willing to take down those outlaw servers.(Actually a good example of private public partnership: The public sector can totally save on enforcement)

@Computer In this year, an unplanned surprise from the Underground Revolution storming the stadium, bringing in parts of a certain computer and melting them in a large and merry bonfire. The speaker for the UR assures us, afterwards everybody will have a week off for celebration and then we only start slowly and probably with different sports. The speaker for the UR also says that the "traditional" sports have an all time low in their approval ratings. ...

@protonprivacy @TeflonTrout You seem to be a bit hard of hearing regarding the fact that at least a minority of your users find cryptocurrency and so-called AI offensive, since it is so scammer-adjacent these days. This looses you trust. And the only way to retain or recover it, is not cosying up to "AI" or "crypto" but keep a clear distance. It's largely a question of ethics and you getting tainted by too close association.

@futurebird On the other side it might already be Alzheimer hitting heavily. He's a bit like old people in my family (only much more hatefilled): Always repeating the same old same old stories that where already terrible when they where young (the stories). So perhaps that's just his reflexes left ... and he really doesn't remember. Anything.
