       @DecaturNature @pluralistic A non-compete clause led to the death of my best friend's husband. He had been selling sporting goods his entire career. The company was bought and his new boss didn't like him. Compelled him to sign a contract with a non-compete, forced him out with a severance package. Unable to work in the only field he knew, he went to work on his brother's lobster boat, died of a massive stroke (not a good idea to take up lobstering at 52.)

       @internetarchive Thanks for mentioning this! It's been years since I've done any significant Wikipedia editing, but when I was active, the vast majority of my work was adding references. This would have been incredibly helpful.It is vital that this capability remains available.

       @brewsterkahle I'm reminded of the cover of Kate Bush's album Aerial. It has an image evocative of a mountain range being reflected in a still body of water - but is actually a waveform. Typical of her impish sense of humor, it was a challenge to her fans to figure out what this waveform was. Turns out, it was birdsong.
