@brewsterkahle one reason to not love Google docs - it's really hard to back them up on your own media. this is why I try to use ms-office files and dropbox.

@brewsterkahle gdocs often replaces email for me and David at work... having a collaborative document (with versioning!) is a real boon for complex long-term exchanges

@brewsterkahle Google Docs has created a new collaborative way to work. It has also created a new world of lock in and dependency.

@hananc The Internet Archive regularly backs up our google drive.key is to have all staff create the google docs in the folder it will live in so you dont get things owned personally. tricky, but seems to be working for us.

@brewsterkahlei am forced to contribute to their information gulag by my employergoogle is not open and transparent and is a global leader in unauthorized information harvesting ("surveillance capitalism")as a leading "public librarian", i find your embrace of their products somewhat puzzling. don't you see the danger of their walled garden of "free" services?(they "own" your information/content (and use it (without consent)) to make piles of money for themselves)

@brewsterkahle Can you expand on the extensions that allow digitization? Because I haven't explored that.
