@tzycce I'm selfhosting with Freedombox and run a couple of included services like #Radicale #Syncthing and #tt-rss. I trust #Freedombox for not making mistakes I would do if I would setup my own server, but I still feel paranoid, now that I have opened my ISP router (port forwarding) for accessing my home server from outside my home network.

@Main_Tomato "You do realize that projects like Tor Browser are mostly funded by Mozilla". This is not true, but truth is not what you are after.

@Main_Tomato Be precise. They matched the individual donations. Once.

@alrs I remember that period very well as it was early in my career. Developing on WAMP, deploying on LAMP. PHP4 and also MySQL should get the most credit.

@hund What really makes me sad, is that this rehashed article from the BBC is from 2011.

@malin Hahaha, good one. And you shouldn’t ask for WiFi when you’re in a restaurant. Take the opportunity to take a break from the internet.

@malin How presumptuous of me. I should have known there are establishments with waiters where it’s ok to work and where the WiFi is part of the service. But then I really don’t understand the rudeness of the password. I have never understood Serbian culture and I probably never will.

@hund @selea I think I don’t know her, so any advice is pointless.

@selea @hund Ok, the only thing I know is that she’s a woman. So buy her an iPhone. See, that didn’t really works, right?

@selea @hund No, I'm just trying to say that recommendation (by people or machines) only work when you have enough good data about a person or the product. This means you probably know your wife best and what she wants out of her phone. Or are you asking actual Fairphone users about their experience with the product? What I do hope is that you are not just virtue signaling about "getting a Fairphone" and that you don't actually have a question with "Thoughts?"

@selea @hund What I would recommend is basically the same as @hund (on my personal values), but with a caveat.yes, but be prepared to return it or keep it for yourself if she doesn't like it (ethical choice).or no, buy a second-hand replacement (environmental choice)

@selea @hund I agree, "Thoughts on the Fairphone?" would have been a better question. I guess I was too tired to ask you to be more specific in your question in my first reply. Sorry for that.I would like to know what you eventually decide and if she likes the Fairphone after a couple of weeks of normal use compared to the LG she had before. I hope you'll post something about this and I'll try to not reply.

@kev I understand the reason for pulling financial support, but why ditching it all together? Is it because it doesn’t feel right then?

@kev It's exactly this question that's been on my mind lately (very interesting choice of words btw, "beholden to"). Is there a moral obligation to stop using a piece of software you enjoy, knowing the developer is not a nice person? Maybe I'm a bit to philosophical on this matter and this is not the right place for a meaningful conversation about it, but I'm also a bit grieved you replied to a positive post by @kopfkind with a negative personal opinion, which ofcourse you are free to do so.

@kev @kopfkind Ok, fair enough. English is not my native language and I’m culturally biased to direct critical questions. I’m not aware of any previous thread, but what are you using instead of tt-rss? Or no aggregator at all anymore? Maybe just 1 main OPML file?
