@grammargirl Excessive heat can cause a system to slow down to protect itself from overheating. Is it possible that in all this futzing, you incidentally removed some dirt or hair that was trapping airflow, blocking a fan, etc.?

@grammargirl Here is a semi-tangential thought which I hope is welcome in your mentions. Is it possible that people undervalue human writing because so many clicks are fraudulent? Maybe they’re hiring robots to write because they mostly expect robots to read?I wonder how much air will go out of the AI writing bubble, when and if click fraud is eliminated. Because robots don’t care if they’re being served word slurry instead of artisanal farm-to-table intellectual product, but people do.

@clive @danilo I can really relate to this. I came to the IT industry hoping for both personal and societal liberation. Personally, it has been very good to me. (I never tried in earnest to become a capitalist, only a well-paid worker.) Societally ... well.

@grammargirl I’m glad he’s OK. GA is scary even when the procedure is minor. When my daughter had it recently, I didn’t admit to myself how afraid I was until she woke up (then I fell apart).
