@Gnomeshatecheese @4WPub @Ariana_Erbon Actually it’s been normal for us to type with Latin alphabet coz we use “pinyin” in simplified Chinese, which is the pronunciation of the characters. I think that keyboard you searched is based on how the character is written. Few people use that keyboard now and it’s easy to swap between Chinese and English as the keyboards are the same. Or maybe you searched a keyboard for traditional Chinese characters (bolder characters on the left). The traditional ones are more complicated and they are mainly used by people in Hong Kong and Taiwan. I also prefer traditional Chinese characters because you can see more clearly what the character means from its shape. Simplified Chinese (right side of the arrows) just abandon something like the “soul” of Chinese culture. The icon you use is so cute! I think it’s the comic image of “aobai”, a character in a comedy film by Zhou Xingchi.

@EmmaFaber it’s true that man is leading the world to an end. It’s also unreasonable to involve women in the scope of “man”. Like our motherly earth, a woman gives birth to man not to let it destroy her but to make her better. It turns out that men are sin and should not be brought to this world.

@GnomeshatecheeseIt’s good to know about your understanding about Chinese characters. I think it’s interesting that people of different writing systems share their views about each other’s culture. I often heard from foreign friends saying how difficult it is to learn Chinese so I think maybe it really takes some time to “see” a language properly, as some Chinese students also struggle to learn English. But I am glad that we can reach some consensus on certain issues.Ohh I have mistaken that image. It looks too alike 😂. In Chinese we also have a similar spirit, we set a tablet at home and pray to him and light up candles every month so he can protect the whole family from evil spirit. It’s good to know about gnome too, thanks! @4WPub @Ariana_Erbon

@Gnomeshatecheese Wow the folklore of gnome is so fascinating! I wonder if this is related to religion or does everyone believes in its existence. I also wonder if there is any spirit with a female image in your country or Europe?@4WPub @Ariana_Erbon

@EmmaFaber @4WPub @Ariana_Erbon @Gnomeshatecheese True. In Guangdong Province, we have at least seven dialects and some dialects just sound like a foreign language.

More than 1000 men set up chatting groups to discuss about how to eliminate women as well as the disabled and the elderly. They even claimed to make feminists into soap or butter😷 If this is not terrorism, what is?

@PontiacWitch Yes, I think there are more incels in China than in any other countries. Since Chinese government has been so dedicated to the surveillance of radical feminism, which they called the propaganda of “overseas activists”, mysogyny of Chinese men is being encouraged. The traditional values of Confucianism Chinese clan system also restrict women in many aspects and rationalize men’s dominance. Chinese men always blame feminists for how they advocate “Western ideology”, as if they are the only patriots. They just have no other excuse to argue how reasonable it is that women should fight for their own right.

@BCLADY @PontiacWitch Totally agree. That’s why I didn’t really love my country because I never felt I am living in a sound environment for women. I felt insecure when I was traveling alone, when I was walking on the street after 10 pm, when I was peeing at a public toilet, even when I was just typing on my phone at home (you know big brother might be everywhere). I am not surprised if the government did anything like that. Actually any government may make mistakes but there is no one government in the world like it trying to cover all the bad things it did. People know some of these things although it is never revealed. We just get numb after all these, because keeping yourself angry all the time is just too strenuous. Some women here are just struggling, some planning to emigrate.

@BCLADY @PontiacWitch I think that’s how politics works. They just fake everything to get their own profits. I think to run away or to stay and fight won’t lead to better results, women just need to make choices. It’s hard for those who have already known the truth of patriarchy and the government to live pretending everything is fine, it’s almost like killing oneself.

刚看了unbelievable这部美剧,哭死了😭不知道从什么时候开始,看到家暴性侵案子如果看得太投入都会把自己代入进去,共情过度就会很难受…这是不是一种mental illness啊...Watched this TV series adapted from a real case. I just found out if you relate too much to this, their pains will become yours😭 Women share so many similar experiences. You can feel exactly how they feel and you would become so angry and sad. Women’s pain is something that cannot be understood by men. So after all these, men will forget, but women suffer, every now and again.

Today is lesbian visibility day. I watched a lesbian film called Intimates, from which I knew more about "Comb Sister", a kind of Chinese traditional women culture. Comb Sisters or self-combed women originated in Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province of China in the Qing Dynasty. These unmarried women set up their hairstyle like married women with determination to stay single all their life. They did this to show rebellion against the traditional feudal society, where women were forced to marry a man appointed by their parents. At that time, many women could not stand being abused by their husbands, therefore, they refused to get married and decided to stay with partners to support each other till they died. Know more on:https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/03/survivors-ancient-chinese-custom-self-combed-womenI was really impressed by these women. They risked their life to fight against patriarchy and the traditional norms. There are only several aged comb sisters alive in China. Although there are also women who are determined to never get married, they are not so radical as the comb sisters and haven't established an organization like that.

Chinese men are taught to hate women at a very young age. I went out for lunch with my girlfriend and we met some people who can’t enter the apartment because they didn’t bring a door key. We kindly opened the door and held for them, but one of them, a young boy about ten, pushed us and said “fuck off you ugly aunties”, and went off with his father. I dissed back but regret I didn’t hit him. He might do this again. The next victim might be the girls at his age. People always say don’t be serious with kids. But if you don’t tell them it’s wrong, they might do something worse, like killing women.

@Lilitu @Womanformallyknownaswoman So true. I really appreciate that this platform provides an asylum for us Chinese feminists. Most of us are women between 20~35, and most are still struggling to live in a censored country. I don’t think we meet the standards of elite women. Yet we are still trying to persuade those who are not aware of their situation to become a feminist. Except Libfems, I think any other feminists are willing to accept oppressed women to join the talk no matter what skin color she is or what class she is in.

Twenty years ago women were forced to abort or ligate, now they are asked to have more babies. And in order to improve the birth rate, women might have more difficulty buying contraceptives or having abortion. Even unmarried women are more likely to be rejected in job interviews. Women literally cannot make choices on their own. As is known to all, women’s human rights on this land is no more than a joke.

@mk @4WPub @Ilongedformuskrats @Vaishax Wow this is a fantastic interview. I learnt a lot about Indian women’s situation. It seems like we are all living in hell. India and China are terrible if not worst place for women to survive, yet they are the most populated country in the world, meaning almost half of the world’s women are living under grave circumstances. But I am quite surprised by upper class Indian women’s choice of being a radical feminist and showing concerns for women in rural areas. You are really doing a great job! In China, I think radical feminists are mostly students but I don’t know because no one dares to show her face and go against the mainstream socialist value. We are invisible, always.

@Butterfly_tsuji The slogans on the second picture were posted during China’s family planning period around the beginning of this century, saying things like if a family were found to have more than a kid all women in the whole village would be forced to ligate, strictly implementing the one-child policy or you will be fined heavily, women should rather abort than a second child, etc. Some of them can still be seen in some dilapidated buildings in rural areas. The first picture is an official poster saying China is now encouraging women to have a third child and there is a writing mistake in one of the characters, which is really hilarious. They are literally blind to women’s sufferings in family and work. As soon as this news came out, some employers have decided not to hire women anymore.
