I played around with some vtuber face tracking code from github (https://github.com/kwea123/VTuber_Unity) and some related godot engine code I also found on github (https://github.com/jtnicholl/VTuber_Godot). I created my own 2D model and coded the movements depending on head pose and mouth angle. Eye tracking doesn't really work but that might be because I am using the low-quality CPU-based tracking instead of the GPU-based one that needs an Nvidia card (which I haven't got). The attached video shows my 2D model mirroring my movements in front of the webcam (cw: cartoon eye contact).

I had a lot of fun drawing this. It features the characters Aurelia and Haley from "Psyche", a science-fiction story that @izaya is writing.

I am having a hard time to get comfortable with fedi.My social networks growing up were IRC and forums. Those use a conversation format for communication, which works much like real-life conversations.I can figure out the social dynamics and group rules by reading the conversations. When I join the conversation, the things I write usually lead to replies which allow me to judge how what I wrote was received.Communication in the fediverse, on the other hand, is centered around statuses. They can be commented but in my experience, actual conversations are extremely rare. If they happen, they don't last long because not long after the next status grabs everybody's attention and people move on.This lack of conversations makes it hard for me to read the room and figure out the social dynamics. And when I post something, it often feels like I am shouting into the void. I can't read much out of a favourite or boost and ultimately don't know how my status was received.Did they like it? Hate it? Didn't see it because of timezones? All that feedback is missing for me.I can't really imagine that fedi is such a confusing experience for everybody else.So I would like to know:How do you manage to connect with people in a status-based social network? Are there rules that are known from other social network and that direct how interactions are supposed to work here? Thanks in advance for your replies! :blobcatheart:

So here's a small tutorial for @selea and @obsidianical , as well as anybody else who is interested in knowing how to do that.It isn't too difficult in itself but you will have to compile the Linux kernel.I only recommend trying it out if you have got experience with compiling the Linux kernel. It's way too easy to stop a system from booting with an improperly configured kernel, even when you have done it plenty of times before (like me, ouch). Anyway! You need:- a picture you want to use as logo- an image editor that can export to ppm/pnm (e.g. Krita)- the program netpbm- the Linux source codeSteps to get the logo into the kernel:- Edit the image to have a black background since transparency is not supported.- Scale the image down. I recommend 160x160 for a 1920x1080 screen.- Export the image as ppm/pnm, e.g. named logo.pnm.- Convert the image to a 224-color ppm with pnmquant: pnmquant 224 -plain logo.pnm > logo_linux_clut224.ppm- Move the file logo_linux_clut224.ppm into the Linux source subdirectory drivers/video/logo.- Configure the kernel to use the 244-color logo in the configuration menu: Device Drivers > Graphics support > Bootup logo > Standard 224-color Linux logo- Do the rest of the kernel configuration like you'd usually do.Then compile the kernel, install it and you should see the logo at next bootup!#linux #kernel

Mechanical linkages are so cool! After reading a bit about them on wikipedia, I modeled some four-bar linkages in the parametric solver "SolveSpace" and played around with the parameters.I love all the interesting and unexpected movements that such a mechanism can produce, especially considering it is just four bars, and four joints!#mechanics #linkages

I wrote subtitles for this video by @izaya, and Izzy added them to the video, so you can now watch it with subtitles on Peertube! To do that, simply open the video in the PeerTube instance and click the "Enable English subtitles" button, which is labeled "CC", in the bar under the video. Have fun!

@izaya In Australia, and many other places, the prefix of landline numbers often corresponds to the city or area that the number is registered in. See list of geographic numbers in Australia on Wikipedia. As far as I can tell, Android uses a local geocoding provider, i.e. it has a small database with common prefixes and just compares those to the caller's number. You can find the prefix list for Australia that Android uses here: https://github.com/google/libphonenumber/blob/master/resources/geocoding/en/61.txt

In the last weeks wanted to explore and annotate unknown file formats. I looked at hex viewers and similar tools but could not find one that was scriptable while also having little dependencies.I would like it to be as portable as possible. So I've started to write something myself in Lua. Right now I have got a very simple interactive command-line hex viewer. I can move around, annotate things, and script things to automate the analysis.I might switch languages later, and I want to make it extensible while keeping the code and architecture simple. If anybody knows an existing tool that could fit for me, or is even working on one, I am open to suggestions! :blobcathappy:#ReverseEngineering #Coding #Lua
