@paradroyd the Datatest 2 looks like a very interesting tool / toy.Do you have a use case for it? Or is it simply something you've admired and want to own?If you do have a use case for it, what is said use case?I have utmost respect for serial and what it can do / did do over the years. Just curious about /current/ uses.

@paradroyd Ah. You want want a sniffer for serial communications.I get it!I've never felt the need myself, but that's my own shortcoming.

@ParadeGrotesque @cdunbar @mwl @ArnimRanthoron the question is, are you standing on your head?

@mwl @ParadeGrotesque I admit, the first time that I saw that I was a bit perplexed, then I thought about who I was talking about.

@mwl infrastructure is best when it’s boring and stable.

@ParadeGrotesque @steevmi1 @mwl what would be even better is if there was alpha code.Or wrapper commands that gatewayed to more traditional commands.

@ParadeGrotesque @steevmi1 @mwl why does the spirit and humor of “(GNU)tar is cowardly refusing to create an empty archive” come to mind?Maybe the wrapper scripts could have a bunch of ENOTUMPLEMENTED messages.

@ms @mwl no, it’s not a joke, living on credit is as baked into the American society / mentality as coffee / tea.

@tomjennings it looks and sounds like there isn’t even weight distribution.Seems like there is very much an affinity to one side. It’s most noticible when it’s close to flat and sort of flapping where one side bounces higher than the other side. But that might not be a problem.

@bortzmeyer @jpmens I don’t consider Sendmail’s configuration file to be an interface.Nor do I know anybody that loves it. Not even Sendmail fans, like myself.

@tomjennings yamacOS makes a good Unix for a casual, maybe even moderate, Unix user. But I find a number of rough corners on macOS as a Unix power user.Which ever version did an absolutely MASSIV restructure to multiple file systems effectively broke things like configuring the — then still included — UUCP system.Base files in /etc have become very difficult to modify.
