@futurebird As someone who is asexual but also heavily fueled by kink and fetish and horny sex-adjacent drive:Things like this ('sexy lady' tat) are just straight-up trashy. Like, come on. [To the corpos who keep hocking this shit:] Have a little bit more imagination.

@futurebird You can definitely put That Genocidal Asshole, Andrew Jackson on the list. When he wasn't mass murdering native americans for lolz with forced migration, he was so famously foul-mouthed that his parrot had to be removed from his funeral because it wouldn't stop swearing.

@foone Better idea: keyboard stores the 2FA code into volatile memory until you press a key to type it when its input is desired.Once the code is typed, power to the memory is immediately cut so the code gets permanently lost when the memory discharges.

@futurebird My electronicsy butt and operational amplifiers. They were triangular black boxes in circuits until I understood their parsimonious equation: Vout = Vin+ - Vin-This came after watching a video that broke them down into a few simple properties. The equations that describe different op amp configurations are merely derivations of the original after a bit of analysis of the surrounding feedback loop(s).It is now circuit analysis a la kirchhoff that eludes me a bit.

@futurebird YEAH!! YEAH!! THIS IS RADICAL!! There's literally nothing that says we can't put algebraic numbers on a ruler!! 😁Slide rules already do this with e and pi and conversion factors to/from arcminutes and arcseconds! What I'd love to see is a "complex ruler". A combination ruler and protractor that can "measure" a complex number in its polar form (slightly more advanced than studying them in cartesian form, but makes them A LOT easier to conceive as actual numbers imho)

There's been this cottage genre of therian posting on social media as of late, all in some vein of "You have always been a creature~" and... it kinda all collectively misses the mark for me...? And keeps reinforcing my own mental picture of what it means to be therian which I clearly do not fit into, either. And yet there's this jarring vacuum of nothing that can reaffirm someone/something like me.

it just feels kind of hollow to have to accept that I'm something else on the fringes of otherkin/therian because I don't fit the apparent mould."You're still valid." doesn't convince me, either, when all of the depictions don't fit.

I'm not a creature that belongs in the wild like therian cottage core depicts. That's just not me.I'm happiest when I'm making a thing, like in a workshop.I'm happiest when I'm at the wheel (or yoke of an aircraft) putting miles behind me.*I'm happiest when I'm snuggled up in the comforting arms of someone I trust.*I'm not really a nature creature.I'm *something else.*I'm an other to the collective otherkin/therian definition.

"Don't worry about the labels" isn't as reassuring as it seems on the face either, because labels serve dual-purpose of finding community connections that are tenuous at best when there is no label to reinforce them.

yeahyouknowwhat?Fuck it.I'm an Eldritch Creature. I *already* break the rules and make my own. I'm something abnormal. Something that exists outside of the norm. Something that reaches out from a realm offset from our shared reality. I accept your reality only insofar as it makes me appear normal to you but I exist well within the bounds of my own reality. The identity meta practically writes itself.I'm an *Other*kin. 😈

@rebane2001 I loved reading this whole post!CSS has always been amazing, and it's only gotten more insane(ly good!!!) over the past decade.I'm hella excited to see what new stuff gets into the standard because that's more fun I get to have without needing to reach for Javascript just to make stuff look pretty. 😄

@aral Genuine question:If I hosted my own private analytics tracker (something like Matomo (née Piwik), e.g.) just so I could have funny numbers to look at because I like to look at numbers but do nothing meaningful with them, would that require a cookie banner?I'd pondered about just having a static notice in the footer of my site that just says "This site uses some functional cookies and one (1) tracking cookie for a self-hosted analytics dashboard because I like to look at Numbers™."

@kebokyo Honestly I don't care to bother with needing to conditionally unblock JS on websites that I have to use that also can't work without it. It's not worth the effort. But also: Javascript is Good, Actually, and does awesome things in the paws of good web devs.To anybody else reading this post right now: if you're feeling an itch to tell me otherwise, I've already heard your reasons a dozen times before, you are not changing my mind. Go bother someone else about how "bad" Javascript is.

@foone Fortunately the little menu to show recent downloads has a nice icon next to each one to "open containing directory" and I only recently discovered that feature but it's been a life-changer.

@Neotheta Oh god y'all are doing Cash for Clunkers now???That was a monumentally stupid program that we had here in America during Obama's tenure. All it did was benefit the auto industry. It tookma whole lot of otherwise perfectly serviceable but aged cars off the road permanently, and it affected 90s cars the most. :(

I am sat in bed this morning wanting for an art slave in the truest sense of the phrase: I demand art, it WILL be made for no more compensation than my praise for being such a good and diligent slave to me.I reserve the right to be a little bit picky about the style I get to claim as mine to demand, praise, and advertise, but in return I will defer to my art slave's paid commission queue as higher priority than my unpaid orders, as long as my work orders get satisfied~

@emilvolk @davidrevoy I'm pretty sure this is already out of date because KDE has dropped X11 for Wayland only as of this year, so the section to switch to X11 at the login screen is not going to work once that version of KDE makes it to Debian. :/
