@lardmotel actually i think it was because I have a script that turns my laptop's wifi off when plugged in to my dock at home because that has ethernet, but you see I'm on the work laptop which doesn't have the script and so I was running with both wifi and ethernet enabled and YouTube didn't like that at all.

@lardmotel it's definitely priced at that sort of user isn't it. I toyed with the idea for a while because I like the idea of it integrating with all my hardware, but the trouble is it doesn't integrate with _all_ my hardware (I mean the MIDI-capable stuff obvs) and IIRC was missing a few key things like Blofeld support so I was like eh if I'm paying that much I want it to not feel half arsed.

@lardmotel good luck! I finally watched the movie on Friday night, it was great. Music was a bit quiet though I couldn't hear much of it due to late night watching TV with the sound at a low level and subtitles on. "Pensive music playing" in place of actually hearing what you did. Hope there's an OST one day...

OK hive mind, my hand-rolled bulk email process isn't working out so well. Short of me setting up an entire mail server* what options are there for running a mailing list for ~100 subscribers? Sending an email to your community these days feels like trying to crawl through swiss cheese. I'm sending from a gmail account yet gmail blocks my messages when i put any kind of "unsubscribe" message (legally required, I believe) in it. (Is it just me or has the internet got really horrible lately.)

I know I'm going to have to go back to self hosting email soon, I even bought @mwl's book on the topic a while back. The problem is it's a big mountain to climb and I still can't be 100% sure it'll be worth the effort (i.e. work properly) when I get there. But buggered if I'm dropping the idea of email as my primary means of communicating with this group. It's the only platform that _everyone_ has, and alternative is spread yourself across all the social media platforms… That way madness lies.

@lardmotel but that's all social media isn't it? the reason i lost interest in FB was you post something and some people press the like button, there'll be one comment that doesn't engage with the post and another agreeing and that's it everyone moves on to the next thing.I actually don't mind just posting and boosting stuff and not getting any 'engagement' .. I assume my IRL friends see it and that's all i want. It used to be called 'micro-blogging' back in the day and I think it's just fine.

Why didn't anyone tell me about Greater Than One? I had to wait for Apple Music to suggest their latest "Groove is in the Dark" and me to go OK that's a cute name I'll put that on while I have Friday drinks pottering in the studio.. and was quite surprised to find myself enjoying it. (What were the chances?) Long story short I had a skim through the back catalogue and 'jived' with it, ending up back at last year's "21st Century Love Songs" and I _really_ like that. Nice work whoever you are!

@lardmotel <obligatory contrary reaction post>pfff i still prefer my sqwonky SH1. It has quirks you can't emulate.. or if you did, they wouldn't be unique any more. It's just me I know, but I will always prefer playing a musical instrument to adjusting parameters in a computer program.
