@lina @PonyPanda @NEETzsche @nolasco President of Jewish Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina Jacob Finci once stated that "In Bosnia, Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs are so occupied with hating each other, they don't have time to hate the jews." Which is false as they still find time to hate the gypsies.

@Some_German_Guy @Bunny @TurboNormie @UnityOstara My experience was quite similar to yours, I fixed stuff and ensured that things were running smoothly for 'em until I broke down. Regardless of how horrible and dehumanising is to work for a betting company, they taught me one extremely valuable thing. What I don't want to do with my life.Every single aspect of the work and interactions I've had were poisoned, it was a damn snake pit.

@Boomerman @dioma @deprecated_ii Last year we invited and hired a dev with 20+ yoe and a very impressive list of projects which he lead and concluded, etc, dude is basically seen as a rockstar and he acts like one so we might as well get a good advice and leadership, eh, since the entire tech stack is bloated (RoR and all consequences that were born from scaling things up thanks to unlimited demands)... and one of first things he did was make a pull request where he made a commit to remove all code comments because "it makes code go faster".

@WashedOutGundamPilot @RoyalJohnny242 @nozaki Here's a fun fact, Mushoku Tensei started as a web novel on a website that was made to host exclusively Zero no Tsukaima fanfiction, and was fan-translated on a website that was initially made to translate and host solely Haruhi Suzumiya novels.Mushoku Tensei is essentially an isekai trash novel in its purest form which takes itself very seriously, it doesn't hide its flaws but makes you focus on them without any sort of gimmicks. It's still the best thing that isekai genre has to offer to this day and I am absolutely livid that nips didn't produce anything better after it despite having an almost entire decade to do so.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @RoyalJohnny242 @nozaki It has an extremely rare quality of being a harem romance which didn't thoroughly disgust me or make me throw away the entire thing since girls weren't trophies but actual people with whom he wanted to build a family with.It wasn't a story of an omnipotent doormat with two+ floozies, but of interesting people in a world with its own set of challenges who wanted to carve out a piece of it for themselves.

@Rhodesian_YuKari @KashKustomer @LordMordred The only people allowed to trade with nips for a long time around that time were Dutch and Chinese, and there was a lot of cultural trade between them so I can see a samurai speaking Dutch and/or Chinese. During that time also a century of shame in China was underway because of the opium trade, and Philippines as well thanks to the East India companies (both dutch and english) lubricating it all.Around that time both companies were facing disintegration, Dutch one more so, and so around 1820s so there were plenty of opportunistic merchants trying to strongarm their way into getting the highest market share, and the area of activity of DEI was treated as a proxy French colony at the Java islands, so the pirate could've been a strongly mercenary dude who was hitting that grindset with his buddies who were evilmaxxing.Frenchie was on a world tour, doing pirate stuff and on the side was being a total fr**chie for a merchant lord who ruined the samurai's life, not like he cared, until that said merchant lord started to cut his losses once he realized that keeping the pirates in his company has started to turn into a small inconvenience.Displaced samurai goes out on a hunt up the ladder to get everyone who was involved, only to buddy up with the f****ch thanks to their mutual hatred for the merchant lord. Both down on their luck and destitute, they're going for one of cultural and trade hubs aka port cities to set out for their next step of the master plan. One lad is fighting for honour, other for money. The pirate knows where the lordling and the money is, and is starting to assemble a team as a final fuck you, he's going to retire rich and there's nothing to stop him save for old age.

@Insomnolant @Comrade_Courier Broiler chickens specialized for meat production are pretty much like pugs of the poultry world, over seventy years they've been bred/cultivated exclusively for meat and they have severe incurable health problems just two months in. I find them genuinely pitiful.

Wtf I thought minimum wage shuffle was a meme, not a real thing in the form of "morning cheer".Morning cheer is basically an act of forcing a bunch of adults whose lives are absolutely fucking miserable with failing/failed marriages, mountains of debt, the looming possibility of being homeless, and all of their best days being long behind them into doing a fucking cheer professing their love for their job and company.Honestly, every time these people rehearse these ungodly awful corporate incantations they're that much closer to diving head first into a woodchipper. It's purely there to break your spirit and ensure obedience.

I used to do this, until I didn't, but now I am doing it again.Whenever I felt like shit at work I applied for other jobs and did the interviews. This was a zero commitment type of an endeavor since I didn't even want those jobs in the first place.I did so because I wanted to brush up my interviewing skills for jobs I actually wanted, as well as to feel out what is currently in demand in the market. This way getting to work for my favourites is going to be much easier! And well, if the job I applied for turned out to be a much better deal than I initially expected, well, I was in luck.Yet... I didn't have any idea as for how much did the entire process degrade.I applied at all easily accessible workspaces where my skills would either be in incredibly high demand, or would be a very valuable asset. But most of them demanded some insane stuff, even if they came up to me, called for me, had an internal reference, or if I decided to downgrade a bit less 'prestigious' company. Psychological screenings, ten weeks long interviews with projects, and other various bullshit for which a sane person has zero tolerance for. It's amusing when for the first time you walk out when a hiring dude says something along the "if you don't like it you know where's the door" type of a thing, but it gets tiring quickly. My tolerance for bullshit is depleting fast, and I find myself more doompilled as time passes by, if I have to go through squid games from an advantageous position without any skin in the game, I dread what degreelets and new grads have to go through.

@PunishedD That one specific case was an agency which had a peculiar issue of having its head stuck far up its arse. The assesment phase was overly drawn out and the necessary people who made the hiring decisions were absent so they padded the rounds out with more interviews. I bailed out early but I listened the horror stories of peeps who were desperate enough to go through the entire process.

@HenrynFren lol, implying they even get past the hr. That might actually be a blessing in disguise, since that way they have less time to waste and no looming threat of college debt is above 'em. I see it as a filter for the desperate, hungry worker works the hardest, after all.

@HenrynFren Usually, yes. However it depends on the scale of a company and their priorities. Even with a direct inside reference and a recommendation all it means is that you skip a phase or two and you're looked upon way more favourably, which is still a significant boost.I did this solely to prepare myself so that when the time comes I'll be ready for places I actually want to be at, this was merely a training ground, I still have my good cushy job, lol. Also, I am surprised by the number of shrinks around, can't trust noone these days.

The first paragraph was meant for "in an ideal world", however reality always reasserts itself. Family, political, friendship, monetary, etc. ties will always override genuine effort.

@cirnog @albi @fluffy @Sigh I've seen often this dorky misconception that on top of being a high effort endeavor, you'll also have to give up on everything to have family and children, and it couldn't be further away from the truth. Sure, there might or will be some painful moments due to you being a poorfag, a hedonist, or overly fervent hobbyist/careerist, but those are minor limits unless your life revolves entirely around those concepts.Having a significant other with kids in your life isn't something that exclusively takes away options from you, it enriches your life as well by a much greater measure. You can pursue academia, you can pursue a career worthy of your time and efort, you can enjoy the little things in life that you still do.It is tragic to be lonesome all the way up to your twilight years, however being stuck with a terrible partner is even worse.

@cirnog @albi @fluffy @Sigh If it's published surely it isn't anecdotal anymore. Here's some data backed evidence behind your anecdotal statement about happiness of married people vs singles.https://ifstudies.org/blog/does-getting-married-really-make-you-happier> Indeed, married people are happier than unmarried people: across nearly five decades of surveys, data from the GSS shows that 36% of people who have ever been married (including divorced, separated, and widowed people) say they are “very happy” while just 11% are “not too happy,” compared to 22% and 15% for people who have never married. Despite changing public views, the truth is married people really are happier.
