@HouseofTolstoy @LouisConde Money literally does not buy happiness, its cliche but entirely true, the thing they don't tell you is that lack of money for things creates unhappiness also, so you need to find a balance, and that balance is generally $50k-120k while raising a family with 2 + kids or so depending on cost of living in USA and other factors. Past a certain point additional money is not worth the stress it creates to make it and causes other problems. The happiest people on the planet are the lower middle class and as a single person with a ~$52k income in a low cost of living place I have all the joy and security I can gain with money without putting too much effort into it for too much bullshit and without the downsides of money and without selling your soul to mammon and satan for $$$ so its pretty cool. I just need good wife with feet to impregnate and a promotion/raise now to finish life's mission.

Apparently she didn't have anybody who thought of her, or looked after her. She died on the floor crawling in her shit. Historically a lot of European families would have trusted "uncles" that were good friends of the father. I've had an older guy I worked with invite me to his big family get together years ago, he said it would be a headache and he wanted someone to talk to. I think a not insignificant number of our guys will find the warmth of the hearth that way. As far as the bodily horrors of dying alone as an old person, I don't think a lot of us are going to make it past 50 or 60 anyways so it's not an issue. The Years of Lead are only getting worse as is general collapse.

Bear in mind that they are among the more able, healthy people in their 80s and can each take care of themselves and still do work around the house and maintain a garden without help. Not to mention they're married and unlike lonely people when grandpa gets sick, grandma takes care of him and when grandma gets sick, grandpa takes care of her. They still want to get out of here, get into Paradise and get done with it.So I don't want to reach such an age no matter what. I can also see the merit of what Cirnog is saying, but being an old man at the mercy of any filth that prowls this earth isn't going to be me.

Essentially, it is possible for all of us, to live not holding back, vibrantly, and then whether or not we have a family, also go out with our boots on, and not swimming in our own filth.
