@SFFMagazineCovers Ah, Margaret Brundage. Amazing some of the sexiest covers back then done by a woman.

@SFFMagazineCovers No, the cover has nothing to do with the Jack London story. But it is a really wonderful apocalyptic plague story...a very early one. It has all the pieces, the hubris of mankind, the population growth, and so on. Well worth reading!Gutenberg has it: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/21970

@itnewsbot #food #upf #fake #synthetic No, no, never, not ever would I want synthetic salmon. I can't even stand farmed salmon.Once in a blue moon we find some real, fresh, red wild salmon when we have the funds to splurge on it. You just can't get this taste and texture anywhere else. It is a luxury in today's world, and we treat it like that.I'll eat beans all day before I'll pretend fake fish is really food. And talk about ultra-processed!

@fcktheworld587 @VICENews Yes. Decriminalizing and nothing more is just noise and perturbation of the system. A sea change is needed to make a big impact. Portugal!

@changelog Hopping might be a valid hobby for any geeks who would find that interesting. Especially if they have a spare machine or two to play on.Some hopping when just getting onto Linux makes sense if someone has the time and talent to make good comparisons. But if just starting with Linux, this might be just a look and feel exercise.Way back, I tried a couple, Suse and Mandrake, I think. Then later came back and grabbed Ubuntu and have just used it ever since.

@CultureDesk @bookstodon Pushing 80, I've probably read an average of two books a week since I was a kid. Never tracked any of it. I read very widely, and just keep at it. Now I can't read paper, e-readers to the rescue. I have thousands of books in #Calibre, more than I will ever finish. Yet I keep getting new ones...

@BertL @CultureDesk @bookstodon I've tried recorded books, but my mind won't work that way. If I listen to the book, that is all I can do. And music while reading...instant headache! Single threaded, my brain is.

@ricci It's worth having had trouble with alcohol just to find this sort of community in AA.
