@futurebird Knowing all you know, would you be an ant instead?

@futurebird Leaving behind comprehensibility would (I assume!) be part of the trade, but maybe it's a nice genie offering it who has different price tiers (Premium package: 2 weeks, full awareness; ant memories kept).

@futurebirdQueer and unorthodox marriages HAVE of work on things that a lot of “normal” couples don’t have to, and so many “normal” marriages are on a corrosive or explosive auto drive.

@futurebird I have a big predisposition toward this kind of thing, but I have tried to deploy it only against other people who do this kind of thing in a cruel or belittling way. Basically trying to be Dexter for prigs.

@futurebird You know, there are so many ways and reasons to do something like this. Some are even borderline pleasant! But a handful of these ways are so nasty, and so targeted to demean.

@futurebirdYeah, replacing them with closed stores seems dismal. As tacky as these stores are, they aren’t grim like a closed storefront or even say, another boost mobile 😂

@futurebird They’re missing out on tax revenue because they won’t issue more licenses. It’s nice that like Philip Morris wasn’t able to come in and run all these shops, but why can’t they do an accelerated licensing program for the majority of these shops that, by all appearances, are meeting the small business and ethnic diversity requirements intended by the original law.

@futurebird Sony makes a very handsome and equally expensive MP3 player that gets about half way there.

@futurebird My toddler has a thing called a Tonie box that plays digital music but it’s “stored” (actually just downloaded) on little figurines. It is cool to switch out the media for different music. I agree analogue tapes are, apart from nostalgia, worse than almost any alternative. But some kind of swappable artifact that plays digital music would be cool. Do kids do mixtapes?? A Spotify playlist is so paltry.

@futurebird As long as they love it and it feels resonant and *substantial* to them, I love it.

@futurebird A rule of thumb I heard is don’t use these things for anything you can’t competently do yourself. Not because you can’t be surprised by them, but so you can evaluate the output. It’s like having a research assistant who is replicating work that you could, but faster and worse. That arrangement could produce plenty of real insights and discoveries, but no responsible researcher would immediately release those results without verifying the surprising stuff personally.
