Bring back forums. Discord is NOT an adequate replacement. Apparently Discord threads eventually disappear into a void from whence there is no return. Their mobile apps don't have all the features of their desktop apps. And their search feature is hot messy garbage. Bring back forums.

Just when I had talked myself out of switching away from an Ubuntu-based distro, my buddy tells me Canonical is trying to go public this year. I looked it up and he's right.Companies with shareholders tend to do what's in the best interest of shareholders even if it's not in the best interest of customers. Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) installed on my laptop without a hitch. :linuxmintnew: I honestly can't tell a difference from "regular" Mint. All the bundled utilities and apps are great, Cinnamon is still excellent, I can easily install my favorite apps, performance is snappy, etc. Except now I'm no longer using a distro that's downstream from Ubuntu. My #Debian #server is up and running. I have been learning all sorts of cool stuff, and feeling very hacker-like doing all the things from a terminal.For the first time I:- installed sudo and added a user as a sudoer- downloaded a file with wget- got my first hosted app installed, configured, and working (#TheLounge)- used the terminal to connect to my server via SSH from my laptop (running #LMDE)This is more fun than I thought it would be.#SelfHosting #Linux

@kyle I, too, have longed for a phone-driven convergent personal computing experience for many years. I had a taste of it with a Windows 10 Mobile phone and Continuum some years ago. Samsung DeX looks interesting but I don't want Samsung, Google, etc. tracking me. I would buy a Librem 5 and lapdock kit in a heartbeat, but the current Librem 5 price point puts it out of reach for me. Still following Purism with great interest, though!
