It's time for a new #introduction as I've just moved to a new server. Yes, a bike-focused server at last!I'm a Japanese living in Seattle, WA, married with a 2-year-old daughter. I write commercial database software for a living. Ironically, I'm a big fan of FOSS. GNU/Linux FTW.In my free time (like I have any), I volunteer for a local advocacy group, Seattle Neighborhood Greenways, to advocate for safe streets for everyone based on the Vision Zero principle.Nice to meet you, everyone.

The new crosswalk and traffic lights at Greenwood Ave N and N 83rd. They've been there for a few weeks. I love it! #VisionZero #Seattle

RT @urbanistorg Looks like a typical NIMBY reaction from the Mayor of Everett, including how she claimed she'd never heard of the program until it kicked off. Hello, Wedgwood? You never heard of the 35th Ave bike lane project? #Seattle https://www.theurbanist.org/2022/11/13/everett-mayor-slams-state-homelessness-program-seeks-to-block-shelter/

According to AUTOSAR:"A for loop without a loop-counter is simply a while loop. If this is the desired behavior, then a while loop is more appropriate."Uh... WHY?#AutoSar #C++

@Linux_in_a_Bit @thor My understanding is that we can't call BSD UNIX for licensing reasons. OTOH, Linux was written from the ground up by Torvalds (kernel) and FSF (GNU libraries). Am I wrong?

@Linux_in_a_Bit I agree. I hardly ever go to FTL because posts (or toots) just fly by.

@noellabo オープンソースで思いを同じくする人たちが集まって運営しているというのが、自分にはすごく肌に合います。ツイ廃ならぬフェディ廃になりそうです 🤣

Every time I go back to Japan, I realize that the home where I grew up is in such an insanely convenient location. It's literally within ONE MINUTE WALK from all the following:* Train station, from which it's a 10-min train ride to downtown Kobe ("Sannomiya").* Bus stop, from which it's a 10-min bus ride to the nearby shopping mall.* Post office* Three convenience stores (7-Eleven, Family Mart and Lawson)* Park#Japan #Transit

@Linux_in_a_Bit I happened to read a post from Android Authority about the growing size of smartphones this morning. It says, understandably, that smartphone manufacturers would sell more smaller devices if they were popular... For me, the Pixel 5 was about as big as I could handle with one hand. My current phone, Pixel 7, is a bit too big.

@Linux_in_a_Bit I know. I don't like this trend at all. I get that some people like to watch videos and play games on a large screen, but I bet just as many people prefer compact form factors.
