@Linux_in_a_Bit @thor My understanding is that we can't call BSD UNIX for licensing reasons. OTOH, Linux was written from the ground up by Torvalds (kernel) and FSF (GNU libraries). Am I wrong?

@thor Unix is a trademark.macOS and iOS have taken a bunch of BSD software and made such proprietary, due to the pushover licenses.macOS has paid the rent to become Unix certified, so it is a Unix. After Linus made some hasty plans for an OS, he decided to write only the kernel instead.Linux has succeeded at being a popular kernel, but it isn't "user friendly" due to the proprietary software.GNU Linux-libre is user friendly mind you. Also, neither macOS nor iOS are "user friendly", as both are proprietary malware that jails the users.Sure the jails are extremely popular, but that's a terrible, terrible thing and not a good thing.
