@selea I think limiting but not suspending is generally a good idea, it doesn't stop people from following accounts on mastodon.social but it does prevent unsolicited messages from getting through.

Since BlueSky and ActivityPub are both ostensibly federated protocols, I wonder if it would be practical (and ethical) to build a bridge server between them.Unlike Twitter mirrors, a bridge could carry bidirectional information about likes, follows, etc allowing for actual interaction between platforms instead of the weird puppet account setup that basically just scrapes posts.

Does anybody know of any good quick FOSS utilities that would let me create a "drop box" for letting third parties upload files to my server?Sometimes I have commissions or other stuff I want people to send me that's too big for most file sharing services and P2P tools can be really inconvenient if we can't get online at the same time.

Thin clients and terminal servers make sense for certain applications, but one of the biggest reasons we stopped using them is that it's just cheaper and easier to ship your employees a disposable i3 machine with just enough RAM to run chrome.I'm willing to bet that 90% of office workers these days spend the majority of their work day in a web app or custom/proprietary application that could be replaced by a web app.

When I worked at Amazon I was provisioned a "cloud developer desktop" that was just a mid spec EC2 instance running AL2 and it cost the company around $40 per month after their internal corporate discounts. Assuming a laptop has a lifespan of 3 years, you could spend over $1400 per employee and still come out ahead.
