I'm guessing it's preferable to have a seperate email for deltachat, no? With the spammy word and sentences long messages in chat it's probably quite spammy when doing more organizational stuff.Seems like a super tool. Something I'd definately have to get into.

@niquarl@peertube.social Yeah! Although now that i've tried it I feel it works well with one's normal email. It being saved into a deltachat folder makes little no mess.

Now I'm inspired into making more peertube videos. DangAlso inreresting to watch your journey Chris. Seems like you've had like a long Youtube arc storyline moving towards peertube. But a even greater arc or journey exploring your feelings about content creation. Going from earning money from youtube, to demonetizing to moving to a platform you enjoy more. And I got to agree. I actually read the comments on peertube. On youtube I ignore all comment sections

It seems you proved me wrong. You don't need a reddit to have the fediverse community a part of the video, you can just use the fediverse! And a yellow sunny evening is always nice.

It seems you proved me wrong. You don't need a reddit to have the fediverse community a part of the video, you can just use the fediverse! But on the other hand. How do you feel about optimizing content for the fediverse. Do you think it will take the fun out of it? One idea is optimizing it for other things than just monetary growth or algorythm, but then what are one optimizing for?But I And a yellow sunny evening is always nice.

Personally I strongly feel Zorin OS is the greatest flasghip distro right now. It har the branding and communication in order, it has a good program setup, looks modern, and it focuses on being a easy transition from Apple and Windows.Linux Mint is really good too though

@ChrisWere@linuxrocks.online Yeah, that is an aspect that exists with Zorin although I'm not sure how much of a community it is. It's a centralized forum which means yet another account. But that might be the one thing Zorin lacks maybe. Although I'm not sure the community part is that important for most average people. But it's definately something that adds an extra quality to a project.Personally the community part is important. It's what makes pine64 so great. But there is a problem with a lot of the opensource community stuff being in clubs that aren't that bothered about being accessible want to stay in their grand bubble castles.Like for examples keeping to use IRC (Which is not inherently a problem) but that kind of makes the community less accessible for people that aren't fully into that world, even if it's not because of the technical stuff. Me myself was too young to even have used IRC in my younger life having MSN been my first instant messenger and that was kind of a big brickwall for me when first getting into the opensource stuff.

I love more fediverse exclusives! :D :D :DWith regards to community distributions I have ended up in a opposite way. Like how you pointed out there is some gatekeeping and the like in the IRC, but my feeling about community projects is that they 99% become a boysclub in the opensource community. A major thing for me is that opensource software should be folksy and empower people. But my experience with opensource regarding the enthusiasm for minimalism, idealism and competancy the community kind of does all it can to like distance itself from all people and being exclusionary. And more corporate projects seems to be more folksy and more understanding for their role and behaving more properly. To me, even gnome and so on is a boysclub. And I have a background in volunteerism and working for political organizations as my dayjob. So I believe in non-profit organizations and community based stuff being able to be good. But it doesn't seem like that works itself out in opensource. There doesn't seem to be the culture for it. Like IRC in itself is like people hostile, but enthusiasts swear by it and wants that to be the thing because it makes them feel good.So I've ended up for a super long time using zorinOS, trying to use something I feel will empower most people. Now I'm using elementaryOS and loving that. I've completely given up XMPP and I'm really having the time of my life with matrix, having basically most people I know IRL using matrix as it's so great.I've started using onlyoffice as that seems to be the office package that can empower the most people around me and is super nice to have on my nextcloud server. But that is my experience of it. I really don't feel community distributions are that good and projects like elementaryOS is doing a pretty great job of building a community and ecosystem around themselves that is very enjoyable. It kind of takes away a lot of the anxiety that other distros bring to the table - and while I'm not a programmer I am pretty confident with technology. Still it is nice to have a distro where you can just relax.

@liberation@fosstodon.org @chriswere Personally the distinction of libre software and OSS is a part of making it less accessible to most people so I personally just avoid the whole thing try to use what will be the most understandable for people outside the community.
