If you want access to a Bullseye shell server (both terminal via ssh and graphical desktop via X2go, VNC, RDP, or web based Guacamole), see: https://www.eskimo.com/services/shells/ You can also get a virtual private server with bullseye (or pretty much any Linux distro) here.

I love more fediverse exclusives! :D :D :DWith regards to community distributions I have ended up in a opposite way. Like how you pointed out there is some gatekeeping and the like in the IRC, but my feeling about community projects is that they 99% become a boysclub in the opensource community. A major thing for me is that opensource software should be folksy and empower people. But my experience with opensource regarding the enthusiasm for minimalism, idealism and competancy the community kind of does all it can to like distance itself from all people and being exclusionary. And more corporate projects seems to be more folksy and more understanding for their role and behaving more properly. To me, even gnome and so on is a boysclub. And I have a background in volunteerism and working for political organizations as my dayjob. So I believe in non-profit organizations and community based stuff being able to be good. But it doesn't seem like that works itself out in opensource. There doesn't seem to be the culture for it. Like IRC in itself is like people hostile, but enthusiasts swear by it and wants that to be the thing because it makes them feel good.So I've ended up for a super long time using zorinOS, trying to use something I feel will empower most people. Now I'm using elementaryOS and loving that. I've completely given up XMPP and I'm really having the time of my life with matrix, having basically most people I know IRL using matrix as it's so great.I've started using onlyoffice as that seems to be the office package that can empower the most people around me and is super nice to have on my nextcloud server. But that is my experience of it. I really don't feel community distributions are that good and projects like elementaryOS is doing a pretty great job of building a community and ecosystem around themselves that is very enjoyable. It kind of takes away a lot of the anxiety that other distros bring to the table - and while I'm not a programmer I am pretty confident with technology. Still it is nice to have a distro where you can just relax.

@christalleras Both of open source movement and libre software philosophy are both giving the 4 freedoms. But, according to the OSI's website, open source is more about software development methodology. Its primary purpose is producing high quality software. Thus, it is highly technical nature. But, libre software philosophy is more about freedom. It is an ethical and social movement.I think, libre software community is the one you are searching for.https://opensource.org/about

@christalleras @liberation@fosstodon.org Yes, you make a good point. I should be more explicit and careful when I make the distinction between Free Software and OSS.

@liberation@fosstodon.org @chriswere Personally the distinction of libre software and OSS is a part of making it less accessible to most people so I personally just avoid the whole thing try to use what will be the most understandable for people outside the community.

@christalleras @chriswere @liberation Yep I agree, I don't like to get involved in peoples wild hairs. I just want an app that does what I need.
