@futurebird I’m with you! The only streaming media I pay for (and for several years) is MLB.tv (baseball). That’s it. I also have print subscriptions to The Atlantic, and our weekly county newspaper.

@futurebird I bought a microwave egg poacher several years ago. It, of course, cooks them hard boiled and beyond. Meanwhile, making poached eggs using boiling water takes all of 3 minutes. 🙄 I'm an idiot.

@futurebird Furniture runs in our family. My parents moved to PA when my Dad retired (1980) : Mom had acquired 3 full households of it. That comprised most of the furniture I started out with. Over time, that was largely distributed to my kids and friends. I still have a number of pieces that have been in our family for 150+ years. Thinking about it, all of that came from my Mom’s family.

@futurebird I’ve always liked comfortable. Clean and well-maintained, but comfortable. I want people to feel at ease and relaxed in my home. There is no formal space. Take your shoes off when you come in, and lounge where you will. I have good taste, and artistic sense. My kids say I have “expensive taste”, but I just prefer to purchase quality items, and hold on to them for the long term. I doubt anything I own will be used by my kids — I guess that was a generational thing?

@nfl A couple weeks ago was disappointing: really wanted to see the Bears take it to the Packers in GB's house.Today more than makes up for that. @futurebird I watch YouTube with no ads: none (unless they're embedded in the video by the video creator).I watch YouTube with the FireFox browser (no apps), to which I've added the "Enhancer for YouTube™", "uBlock Origin", and "Disable HTML5 Autoplay" extensions. This works for me on Linux and Mac.I use this setup both logged-in (Google), and not logged-in. No ads, either way.

@billiglarper @futurebird Odd. I don't enable any cookies on YT (at all, other than signing in with my Google account), and am able to create my own private playlists at will. Is that the difference: private vs. public?

@futurebird @billiglarper As I'm looking at YT right now, signed in (Google), uBlock Origin claims to be blocking 193 items, and the "Privacy Badger" extension claims to be blocking no trackers. This is on Firefox 146.0.1 on LinuxMint. I'm guessing Privacy Badger has nothing to do, because uBlock Origin has already cut the relevant offenders off?

@futurebird @billiglarper Not for me: I never watch YT on any of my mobile/portable devices (iPhone, iPad, Roku) . No apps, ever: just Firefox on my desktop (LinuxMint ), or laptops (2012 MacBook Air, 2019 Intel MacBook Pro).

@futurebird I have a Google account. I have it only to be able to login to YouTube. I still have a Google Mail account, and Google Drive space, but they both have no content at all (for a few years now).
