I have moved syncthing and dovecot into my local kubernetes setup now(wrote my first helm chart too). I'm almost out of manually managed lxc containers. I still need to do synapse, some static websites, and my couchpotato/sickchill/sabnzbd/deluge lxc container.I might replace couchpotato/sickchill with ombi. I also have a few podman containers kicking around (Minecraft servers) they will be the last things to move.

@kelbot everyone wants water resistance, and the easiest way to do that is to seal the device. Yes they can put rubber gaskets, but those will probably fail eventually. Sealing is the easy answer to the water resistance problem.

honestly @chris that's the choice you have to make. Either you have full control and host it yourself (given you have capability and means) or you give that responsibility to someone else and accept the costs. Whenever you give up responsibility, there will be some cost in one form or another.

@DeveloperMemes NTP often has to slow down time or speed it up to bring a system back in sync. There are some very time sensitive systems like in scientific computing and stock trading, but otherwise I think the threat is overstated. I've had a whole fleet of systems receiving time from two NTP servers that disagreed about time by over a second. They didnt mind skewing one way or another.

@dan I don't send many emails, I've had a few end up in junk mail on gapps users, but otherwise my deliverability has been fine for the past few years. I'm on a couple dnsbls (one for no reverse DNS record, and the other for running a tor node) for the latter, there are universities on that list...Spam has been a problem for me lately, but I had removed my old spam filter because it wasn't very effective. I still get more spam in my very old gmail account though.

I've finally ordered a new (to me) phone. After so many years sporting my nexus 5x, its time to upgrade.it sometimes won't turn on for hours. LineageOS has been pretty good, and I couldn't wait any longer for my FXtec Pro1x enthusiast pack to ship. So I ordered a google pixel 4a 5G off swappa. Hope it turns out good.

@thomasafine ~/.ssh is normally rather protected, I bet the permission on it (set to protect ssh keys) probably prevents ssh-agent from accessing it. I think on my system(probably because of systems) the socket is in /run/user/<uid>/ssh-agent.socket

I spent some time last night and got my website from 20 years ago working, I even made the flash stuff work using Ruffle.rs13 year old me designed this from my moms basement in Minnesota on maybe 10Kbps dialup (on a good day). It was hosted on Angelfire, and I found the old files still there in my old angelfire account 20 years later...
