@TonyStark Also, water (and pollution in it) flows underground, but 5 of 4 Supreme Court justices give zero f*cks.EPA now has zero authority unless a wetland "has a continuous surface connection with [waters of the United States], making it difficult to determine where the ‘water’ ends and the ‘wetland’ begins.”

@lowqualityfacts That worked for Henry VIII when he needed a divorce, but Pope Clement VII wouldn't play ball. The Patreon part, I mean. Not the whole, "Church of England" thingy.

@BigMcLargeHuge @Alan Evil: "Kill all the [members of a marginalized group]!"Reasonable people: "Don't kill ANY OF THEM!"Centrists: "We should agree to a REASONABLE COMPROMISE and kill only 50%. And if you're not ok with that, you're not a 'serious person'."

@freemo @opendna @heidilifeldman Thinking of Martin Bormann here. And all the other ordinary people, just working.

@freemo @opendna @heidilifeldman 1. They're not just clerks, doing a job in a vacuum. Working so closely with Thomas, his clerks must have been aware of behavior like that described in the ProPublica articles. And likely more.2. Nobody is forcing Thomas' clerks to work for Thomas. They chose this. They're not at risk of being shot for leaving. They remain for personal gain. They could leave and not starve on a meager $500,000 law firm salary.3. Clerks don't just blindly follow orders. They do the research and write drafts for the justices.4. Given 1, 2, & 3 they are likely accomplices to Thomas' corrupt activities.

@stux We had a cat that loved cantaloupe and honeydew. She never was interested in watermelon, though.

@stux It reminds me of a phrase from my childhood: "En boca cerrada, no entran moscas," or, flies don't enter a closed mouth. And later, I learned of this one from Abraham Lincoln: "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."

@stux From an American perspective, it's:1. a population that gives a damn about cyclists;2. a government that gives a damn about its citizens, and isn't merely a proxy for the auto industry;3. far less lobbying influence over government.I loved that video. It reminds me why I so enjoy visiting Europe, and Delft in particular. The bicycle garages still blow my mind.

@stux Judging from what my Florida co-workers say, it's bad. They're very careful about what they say, and who they say it to. Conversations with neighbors are guarded because the neighbor might be a MAGA nutjob. How's the Geert Wilders PVV situation over there?

@stux I used to live in Portland, Oregon, which was/is considered a bicycle town. I’m alive today because I always wore my helmet. BOTH TIMES I got hit was by drivers driving in the wrong lane or making an illegal turn. And then I found out that cops and insurance do not care. In the US, bicycle riders are 2nd or 3rd class citizens.I envy the Dutch their bike culture, bike laws, bike garages, and how ordinary it is to have bikes EVERYWHERE.I’d sooner emigrate to NL.

@ocean With microscopic print underneath, that reads: “manufacturer is not responsible for injuries due to consumption of product.”
