@queeranarchismI don't know about most, but one of my biggest goals in life (kind of by accident) is to understand as much as possible, especially in terms of other people's perspectives and experiences. Tumblr helped a LOT with that, and now im sorta anarcho sorta commie. So it wasn't my experiences that got me here, it was other people's.

So i don't much like behaviourism to start with, especially for humans, but there are basically three different main ways another person can be trained with behaviourism: rewards-based, punishment-based, and a mix of the two (im going to treat "mix" like equal, but it could veer toward "mostly reward, some punishment" or "mostly punishment, some reward" as well)

@queeranarchismI thought there was evidence that the review was also done by an algorithm? I do remember a basket of mushrooms being ""reviewed by a human person"" and still got turned down so....

@queeranarchismI mean I'm not excusing tumblr by any means! My reply was meant as more of a (possible) fact correction rather than an, "actually it's okay" thing.(Sorry dors that make sense? I'm not wordsing well. I rarely am though!)

@Eldritch_Horrorgirl If Youtube actually cared, surely they could do something when right-wing youtubers start getting bigger and make it so only people actually following them can see the videos (possible prevent new followers happening, oh sorry, must be a glitch) - it won't help them, but it will stop those horrible views spreading so much. But y'know, wouldn't trust them to not do that to leftist videos too, if they did.

@USBloveDog That is much better phrasing than I had, but yeah, exactly that. Deplatforming is a good idea only until one understands that corporations are not good and that any power like that can be terribly abused.

Not rly subroot but prompted by toots I just read:I'm not a big fan of cis men as a whole but like, the constant stream of "men are trash" also serves to alienate individual cis guys who could learn more about leftist stuff and prejudice if given support, but instead they're made unwelcome and turned away. This just means they'll keep searching until they find another place that welcomes them better. 1/2

And what groups are gonna be more welcoming? The "alt-right".Like, I get being tired. I get not wanting to deal with cishet ignorance, I really do. I think we simply ought to be more careful about how we talk about them, because as much as you might hate to think about it? They are individual people, who are just trying to do the best they can with what they've got. 2/3

Sometimes you need to vent, I know, but also... do y'all not realise that not only does venting only help in the *very* short term, but makes anger and frustration *worse* in the long term? Sometimes you need to vent while learning to manage manage things better but you can NOT rely on it as your core coping mechanism while being a very good person. Decent, maybe, but not very good.

I've been becoming quite aware of how bad short-term solutions and shortcuts really are, in so many subtle ways.Sometimes it's more obvious, like shortcuts in factory processes making them dangrous; other times it's more subtle, like how reward / punishment externalises motivation and kills intrinsic motivation in the long-term. (it's an easier way to raise kids, but less good for them once they're adults). /end

@Crioh I will shove a bunch of old and basically unsorted (mostly autistic) articles I've saved at you shortly, also if you get others I'd love to read those, and also also, if you ever have a specific difficulty or anything, I'm always happy try and think of / suggest things that might help (tho no guarantees I will find something that works! though warning, excited rambles will likely happen.)

@Crioh I'm glad you learned something already! Also another thing; autism overlaps with EVERYTHING which means you can find resources everywhere! there's a lot of overlap with TBI which probably has the most resources, along with ADHD. There was one link I found ages ago but apparently?? I don't have it?? Anymore?? Might be on Chrome bookmarks on my desktop computer, idk, but I thought I moved all those??Also:https://synapse.org.au/information-services/motivation-and-initiation-fact-sheet.aspxhttps://www.changedlivesnewjourneys.com/lack-of-motivation-after-brain-injury/

I feel like most of the enbies i know in meatspace (not many) all seem to generally feel ever so slightly more comfortable with stuff coded less toward their assigned gender and more toward the other binary gender (just a little, mind. Like, if you HAD to pick one for something...)And my brain is suddenly going "you're not a *proper* nonbinary, you're like..... Enby Lite (tm)" because i relate more to my assigned gender stuff

@garfiald ehhhh i dunno, you see, I really do enjoy being constantly misgendered by everyone I encounter and being told by people that they don't think I'm trans, or asking if I "want to be an *other binary gender*" when I mention wanting to start hrt.I think that's what being an enby is really about, you know?
