I would so love youtube to totally deplatform pewdiepie and kick him off the servicebut that's only going to push his followers to see everyone as the enemy and shove them into radicalisation easier and fastbut keeping him around, as is, is hardly the right choice eithermaybe a forced apology? ad lockdown so he can't make a cent and sputters and dies?I have no idea

@Eldritch_Horrorgirl If Youtube actually cared, surely they could do something when right-wing youtubers start getting bigger and make it so only people actually following them can see the videos (possible prevent new followers happening, oh sorry, must be a glitch) - it won't help them, but it will stop those horrible views spreading so much. But y'know, wouldn't trust them to not do that to leftist videos too, if they did.

@certifiedperson @Eldritch_Horrorgirl Because you and I and everyone else knows they’d abuse that power the moment they designed it. That is my main criticism of the fans of #deplatforming: they rely on capitalist companies to do good.

@USBloveDog That is much better phrasing than I had, but yeah, exactly that. Deplatforming is a good idea only until one understands that corporations are not good and that any power like that can be terribly abused.
