And I can't remember which instance I was looking at earlier today but it was chock full of regular people. Like I'm pretty sure I saw someone's granny, and not like 'fandom old' but 'someone's nana off facebook' and I'm sorry but if facebook nana can figure out Mastodon I don't know what to tell the twitter reply dudes except for maybe they're just too dumb to get it.

So we've got an instance full of journos and a crap ton of regular joes and facebook nana...Is this actually happening? I mean I've heard the numbers, the fediverse has blown up in the last week. But that was just numbers.It's not till you see the real people and the changing demographics that it really hits home.

@tikli absolutely, and this is what we did before fandom consolidated on tumblr. We all had XMPP accounts and various forum accounts and email and blogger and LJ and twitter and FFn. We were everywhere man.

@tikli but also by having a tumblr + pillowfort + mastodon + dreamwidth + whatever else you're covered when/if fandom *does* start to consolidate again.And it might not. But you'll find your own personal preference, or you'll find where your fave fandom hangs out.Fandom spreading out isn't a disaster. It's just the return to a way we've done it before. And it might even be healthier.
