"Virat has chosen Duroflex Back Magic Mattress in every city during Cricket World Cup"? Does it mean hotels in which the team stays customize only Kohli's room with a particular brand of mattress, that too, only during the team's stay? 🤔

"No wonder a spoilt, entitled fandom, fed on a steady diet of jingoistic propaganda pretending to be cinema, got up and left the world’s largest stadium when the Australians started winning, thus proving that we have the world’s smallest hearts. Honestly? The ugly Indian fan has been revealed to be a rich bullying brat who wants to win all the games at his own birthday party, simply because he’s hosting it." —Anuja Chauhan https://tinyurl.com/anujaweek

What is the point of 'cumulative views' for viewers? 🤷1. The 'views' are shown to all viewers, not just brands/advertisers. If Jio showed cumulative-whatever to advertisers/agencies/media buyers alone in a dedicated dashboard, it makes sense from an advertising/reach perspective.2. People watching 'live' sports may be interested to see how many more fellow fans are watching at the same time. It brings a feeling of togetherness. 'Cumulative' doesn't; it gives a false sense of numbers. 1/2

2/2 3. Meta and YouTube's cumulative views are not for 'live' content. How does it make sense for something playing 'live'? "I'm part of something big happening *right now*" vs. "So many people have watched this already? Lemme watch it too".It looks like Jio wanted to *beat* Hotstar's CWC23 numbers somehow, by hook or crook and came up with this bizarre logic and is doing 'PR' around it too to justify the choice.

No one would ask a virtual influencer, "Paid post?", huh? 😏Every single time I talk about liking a product or a service, invariably someone (or at least a few people) asks me: "Paid post?". Not that I have anything against others doing "paid posts", but I'm tired of responding with, "No. My words and opinions are not for sale". I even wrote about the evolution of 'paid posts', in the context of social media and the persistent questions I get: https://tinyurl.com/paid4post 1/2

2/2 The irony is that people ask, 'Paid post?' only with humans. They wouldn't ask that question to 'virtual influencers' who are paid more than 'human influencers'. Considering the entire existence of a 'virtual influencer' is imaginary, that they get paid even more than real humans for being an influencer, and that people more easily accept 'paid posts' from imaginary entities and deeply suspect the motives of real humans is quite an evolution we find our species in.

This is incredibly well done with superb use of dark humor, fully deserving of the issue it is trying to highlight. When you realize what the ad is leading you towards, it is bound to hit you forcefully.Done in-house, from what I understand.#psa #advertising #communication

Given the state of traffic in our cities, a personal/self-driven airport pick-up is perhaps the ultimate sign of love and affection! That's the sentiment used by Toyota in this Christmas ad (agency: Conill Advertising). It's a solid idea, written and produced beautifully, except for one stretch of exaggeration - this sentiment is not unique to Toyota cars! 🤷But considering only Toyota depicted this sentiment, I'd let that cynical question pass :) Full marks for nailing the human insight.

Dei, seriously? 🤷 Tropicana removed 'I' and 'A', in that order, from its name and forced a gimmick into it by saying they removed 'AI' because it's all-natural? This is the most convoluted route taken by a completely unrelated brand to jump on the AI bandwagon!I hope a joke doesn't catch on around the normal packaging of Tropicana (the ones besides this limited edition run that have A and I) where people mock it for being 'artificial' because the brand name has AI ;)#marketing #advertising

The power of imaginative, sharp, and humorous writing shines through in this 3-ads campaign for Panadol, a pain relief tablet. What the agency (Grey Argentina & Grey Dubai) does is to connect the dots between the past/history and the present, to magnify the everyday cause of pain as something as impactful as the former. But then, there's always Panadol to deal with the pain, these days! :) 1/2

2/2 The choice of the scenario from the past is truly imaginative, particularly in the first 2 ads (Kitchen and Living room). The deadpan delivery of the voiceover significantly adds to the humor quotient!I wish the agency had released subtitled versions of the ad so that the writing becomes accessible to more people. But here are the transcripts of the 3 ads, just in case.

What a missed opportunity by BJP! They should have ensured 'The Name' appears 56 times instead of the random 67.

You already know that McDonald's has removed its universally trashed AI-generated Christmas 2025 ad, but did you know that a character from that ad parodies the very same ad? A brand-new agency called 'All Trades Co' has used AI to make one character (widely used in media reports) from that McDonald's AI-generated ad skewer McDonald's, the agency (TBWA/Neboko), and the use of AI in advertising, all in a blisteringly abrasive tone! Remember: this could happen to your AI-generated ad too :) 1/2
