@micahflee Self driving cars are a scam. A friend works for an auto company attempting to create a self driving car and reports his frustrations regularly. The technology just doesn't exist yet -- driver aides like adaptive cruise control is all that his division has managed to produce, the computers available for cars simply don't have the horsepower to do the real-time pattern recognition and modeling needed for a true self-driving car.

Cameras twenty years ago were way better than now. Those cameras made me look younger and thinner and, for some reason, like I had more hair. Cameras these days suck, comparatively.[/s]

@HistoPol @JessTheUnstill @doppelgrau In short, your observations about the handicapped and public transit are totally divorced from the reality. Public transit is the most friendly form of transit for the handicapped, and that has been true for decades.

@HistoPol @JessTheUnstill @doppelgrau The fact that a third world nation has an unsafe mass transit system is of supreme disinterest to me. The fact that the United States lacks a functional mass transit system in 99% of its cities -- by functional, I mean any address no more than 2 blocks from a stop, and buses/trains run every 15 minutes -- makes life excruciatingly difficult for those who can't drive cars for whatever reason.

@arstechnica Of course, Signal doesn't actually have any presence in the UK to begin with. They're based in California, USA, and have no branch offices elsewhere. UK can try to sanction them all they want, and Signal will just say "no standing, Freedom of speech, 1st Amendment, dudes" and US courts won't enforce the UK sanctions.

@TedUnderwood If you or I switched between three different personalities, we would be called crazy and sent to the funny farm to get our meds adjusted. We're deliberately creating an insane chat bot? Wow.

How, exactly, does Wyoming propose to ban a drug authorized at the federal level? This is nuts. #wyoming #abortionhttps://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/17/us/wyoming-abortion-pills-ban.html?smid=tw-share

Because America.Latest incident is from Florida, and to make it more infuriating, the Sheriff's Department said the shooter did nothing wrong shooting at the delivery driver who was at the wrong house. https://www.rawstory.com/shootings-incident-miami-instacart/?cx_testId=6&cx_testVariant=cx_undefined&cx_artPos=0&cx_experienceId=EXC93HV4HK4I#cxrecs_s

At the rural school district I last worked at, we had 1500 students, of whom 1,000 were free lunch and 500 were not. The cost of personnel (an entire department!), computers, and software for vetting students to make sure those 500 didn't get free lunch cost more than the cost of simply feeding them, already. The GOP jihad about preventing those 500 from getting free lunch is not about taxes or expense, it's about being mean to children. #gop #antichild #school #lunch #meanness

As just an example, after I left the school district I went to work for the company maintaining the district's enrollment/attendance records. One of the things I wrote was the software for matching the free lunch eligibility list sent to them by the Feds against the student enrollment and school lunch enrollment records. It was not simple software and we didn't give it away to the district. That software alone probably cost them enough to have fed 100 kids for a year. #gop #meanness

@kravietz Kadyrov has the right idea. Why risk the lives of you and your troops on a bullshit war? Instead try to convince Pootey you are supporting him via TikTok ops.

Happy Goodbye Nazi Losers Day. The Nazi armed forces surrendered unconditionally to the Allied forces in Europe on May 7, 1945, 80 years ago. Ever since the Nazis have been sore losers and trying to get back into power in any way possible, most recently arriving at an orange con man after realizing that people didn't like all those swastikas and such so they just removed all those old symbols from their literature and pretended to be normal Americans. #nazi #trump

@Nonilex It's almost as if the Trumpanzees don't read the Supreme Court decisions that they're wanting to overturn. The particular Supreme Court decision in question is Printz v. United States (1997), where the Supremes ruled that the Federal government could not force local sheriffs to enforce the Brady gun control bill's background check requirement. This established the Constitutional principle that the Federal government can't force local law enforcement to enforce Federal laws.

@Nonilex Key takeway from Printz vs. United States (1997): " Finally, and most conclusively in these cases, the Court's jurisprudence makes clear that the Federal Government may not compel the States to enact or administer a federal regulatory program." Federal immigration laws are, of course, a federal regulatory program, since the Supremes have also held that immigration is solely a Federal matter.
