@worldsendless As git is often used to distribute software, including scripts that build the project from source code, (i'm especially thinking things like configure/autogen.sh) which have to be executable, I get the desire for this to be the default behavior. I certainly rely on it a bunch.

@foone having spent a little while in the SRE space, and having excellent logs visualizable in kibana, that's the sort of pattern where a weekday-type bug might show up a bit quicker. But it's a matter of having all the usage and error logs aggregated in one place. It kind of makes me want to say "yes" to more of those "would you share usage data" opt-in prompts. 🫤

@foone One of the few almost-universally applicable bits of technical advice: do it in smaller steps. I've never done any 3d printing, but it sure applies to software dev too.
