In particular I enjoy this schema for understanding knowledge operations more analytically:- Knowledge operations: actions that involve the conveying or processing of knowledge.- Conveying: the creation, distribution, and reception of knowledge between entities (inter-entity operations).- Processing: transforming knowledge in some way to create a new knowledge output (intra-entity operations).

@simon This might be a crazy question but are you aware of any tools for deploying prompt interfaces/models to users and enabling feedback where everything just goes into a boring old SQL database?I’ve half a mind to build something with Django/Flask, but I’m also like… this MUST exist and would think you would know if so.

@alex Womp. Do you see anywhere to report an error? (Also, curious: did you log in/auth via login.gov? I see that bit there.)

@dbreunig @simon My experience with ChatGPT so far is that they seem to be focusing on the cues being in the model response, not out of band, no? (Not saying I don't like the idea in general, just saying it seems to me they are more interested in directly caveating by model tweak than interface, which is especially important given this affordance doesn't really work in an API by default)

First clear evidence of a content farm using ChatGPT to generate internet content in response to government public benefits I've found.- The site is "medicaid . us"- They appear to take real human-asked questions, feed them into ChatGPT, and make a page w response- The tell? "Regenerate response" at bottom

@clive @Noupside Is the bass definitely upright/acoustic? I've always really enjoyed electric bass, and think it has great learning curve and "play along" (to recordings) power that I fear trumpet has less of. That said, either is a gateway to a new wave of ska, so.

I've been going probably 5x faster building a Rails app using GPT-4 for questions and code generation. I think if you know the fundamentals, but forget syntax (like a lot of us!) these things are *massively* helpful. cc @simon echoing your experienceAlso a request: anyone know good ways to streamline feeding in application context (eg existing code)?

@simon I see this question every so often and not to get all philosophical, but I do think it's more complicated than reputation or past record.A big implicit question here is "what do I want to control vs. what do I want to let someone else control"And the truth is that the answer there determines a lot! The more you outsource, the odds go up of breaking. The more you own, the higher friction to get going and also different breaking modes.

@simon I'm not sure there is a general purpose answer that's particularly useful without better defining the "someone"!

@simon Okay! I'd ask a few further questions then to inform the call:1. Are they okay messing around with web software, e.g. configuring DNS records, deploying via git? (opens more possibilities)2. How much positive feedback do they need to do it/keep with it? (not endorsing but pointing out that Substack has much more of this by default, arguably a big reason people are doing it/sticking with it)3. Are they in a community that has "spaces"/tools more predominant now?

@simon (Also really not trying to be pedantic — I think these dimensions are the ones that are important and underdiscussed relative to, say, technical platform risk!)

Something interesting about "alignment" discussion around AI is that it provokes the question: "in what ways are the operating logics of our institutions currently misaligned?"
