Had a blast yesterday #hiking in the winter wonderland of the White #Mountains, #NewHampshire! With the short days, hiked dawn to dusk up to a summit and back. Conditions were perfect—packed snow and minimal ice all the way up and mild temps, no wind. Bare booted going up, wore micro-spikes coming down. Just now finished an invigorating end-of-day #workout, #TrailRunning in a local #forest and around beautiful ponds like this one. With temps dipping below freezing, it’s getting a bit “nippy”. The #ice can be seen forming in the foreground around the edge of the pond. Just returned from an all-weather adventure #backpacking in the White #Mountains, #NewHampshire! Camped halfway up a mountain near a #stream, then hiked up to the ridge the next morning, summiting three peaks before returning. #Streams, #waterfalls, dinner overlooking a valley at sunset, plus some heavy rain, hail, and being buried in the clouds while #hiking the ridge— this trip had it all and I had a blast! #waterfall #nature #NaturePhotography #landscape #photography #LandscapePhotography

I hiked to the top of this big rock today in southern #NewHampshire (Mt. Monadnock). Glad to make it up safely on this long steep section of trail (class II) as it had turned into a frozen #waterfall over the winter (top right). Mild temps and light wind made for great #hiking weather. These icy sections of #trail are what remained of the #winter in this mountain that hiked earlier this week. The #ice appeared once I got above a certain elevation but was only present below the tree line. The weather window has opened up a bit (i.e., less rain) and I'm heading off to go #backpacking in the White #Mountains, #NewHampshire-- my first such trip this season. Managed to convince my "partner-in-crime" (Lori) to head into the wilderness with me in spite of the damp forecast. Will try out our new tent that fits two adults (advertised as a "3-person" tent). Will be #hiking all the way up a stream to near its origin and camp near the waterfalls. See you on the other side!#GetOutside

We just got back from our "waterfest," backpacking in the White Mountains, New Hampshire! Hiked up two rivers, crossing many small tributaries. Camped near one of the streams, having meals by it and falling asleep listening to the sounds of rushing water. And, the new tent held up against the rain at night! Hiking deep into the wilderness earlier this week, we saw many dead trees in the forest that were untouched by humans. Some of the trees, whether they were still standing or already lying on the ground, had beautiful mushrooms growing on them.
