@atomicpoet as an ex-journo, it was an extremely difficult thing to get qualified sources to make comments, and twitter made it slightly easier.. Whilst I understand why people don't like it in the fediverse, what's the alternative?

@AngharadHafod personally I doubt this would make anything better. The issue isn't about a blanket 20 mph speed limit but about drivers driving appropriately.

We don't live near my wife's employment so she will be engaged in a digital picket - and we will be 'visiting' the picket line at a local uni.If you are an academic in equivalent roles to those striking *do not cross the picket line* even if you are not in the union. If you are a student *do not cross the picket line* please.If you are in the UCU or other unions, you too can visit the picket line to show support for your union brethren as they strike. #ucu #strike

@AnnFromMEandMA this is the story of our time; we've been seduced into believing that inconsequential actions on social media accounts actually *are* action. @ChrisWere I think there are things that make it hard to call - including that some of those charged with certifying election results in some areas clearly having an interest in making sure one of the candidates wins. And obviously the impact of the SC.
