@Gnomeshatecheese @Rogue_Koala @TheWitchBitch Yes it's just so depressing when people can't see it. I don't think Israelis are saints and there are questionable actions. But as you say, look after your civilian population and you can rebuild your country a lot quicker and hopefully stay in power. Most of us agree seeing kids getting killed is horrendous. But l know if it's my family surviving over the enemies family mine wins every time. These criminals seem quite happy to have their own killed for what?

Random thought. There seems to be a big increase in autism diagnosis, many self and many clinical confirmation. Is the internet rewiring our brains to become autistic, are parents inadvertently passing on these behaviours through their own internet experience?

@HebrideanHecate @Flick In Australia most people agree there were people here long before European settlement. Young people and the left side of politics are keen to bring this up and agitate for more land to be returned and change to our constitution. Most of this seem reasonable to some degree. The very same demographic denies that Jews have the same claim to Israel. Even though there is evidence from manuscripts and archaeological remains than you can poke a stick at. Now theyre running around Sydney saying Jesus was Palestinian. This blatant rewriting of history would be funny if it wasn't so frightening. This kind of politics will most likely destroy civilisation if it becomes the norm.

There are days l feel like the luckiest person in the world. My town is surrounded by forest and farming, often dry and harsh yet to me overwhelmingly beautiful. We've had lots of rain this summer which is unusual. The apple tree is full of theiving rainbow lorrikeets, the almond tree stripped bare thanks to the cockis. I can jump on my bike and see kangaroos and kookaburras in five minutes. Then come home and walk into the shops and buy apples and almonds. There are days when the ordinary life is paradise.

@Cousin_Isobel It's really struck me in the past years how much my identity has been formed around a sense of place. It's very middle Australia, ordinary, and how grateful l am that it was drilled into us as kids to watch the natural environment. Bizarre maybe but I can't imagine being who l am without this. Yet it's so ordinary, but l love it.

@Cousin_Isobel Thankyou, I'm sure being able to find places to hike keeps you so grounded. Where we grew up was very poor, the area had been degraded by gold mining and land was cheap. Australian flora and fauna has really been hammered since white settlement but you don't need to go far to find wildlife Some species of birds, marsupials, and reptiles seem to regenerate despite the onslaught if left alone. Our birds are spectacular, l didn't realise how beautiful and abundant they were until l travelled overseas . Mum had a deep connection to the bush and really pushed it onto us kids. Maybe people living in degraded environments might feel ripped off. I think all kids need access to good clean green spaces, it should be an important priority in government policy. Maybe your environment is boring but is there opportunity for kids to ride bikes and wander to a park or swimming pool? Sense of community is probably the most important thing. Anyway tomorrow l might complaining about the bloke up the road driving like a lunatic, some days are just beautiful and today is one of them. I hope you wakeup to one of these days tomorrow they are precious.

You valiantly tried to get him to see why Rowling identified Willoughby by his sex based pronouns. Also, Willoughby has been baiting JKR for years you only have to go through twitter for five minutes to see some of the garbage he's flung at her. Secondly since when does Wu get to decide what social issues Rowling gets to talk about. Raging rampart jealousy has to play a part in his attitude to you and JKR, real women should pander to his inflated ego.

@LadyMont I don't have any idea how the voting works. Is the public allowed to vote? The jury are these representatives of each participating country? My guess is that Israel came second in the great unwashed vote, and this kind of infers that the public are not happy with the demonstrations maybe common people have a better understanding of what's going on than people who get their information from an algorithm driven information source.

@LadyMont Mandatory here l hate them. It took years to get used to wearing a helmet. I resent it, especially when not in traffic on a bike, pedestrian exclusive path.

@RadicalCartoons Its all really horrible, I'm atheist but have friends who are deeply religious, yet they are fair game for ridicule and mockery. These women put in huge amounts of unpaid time to community-based projects, they also work on the premise of not being judgmental, but they are often the target of jokes and parody. The producers of the Paris spectacle knew that Christianity and the parody of women was an easy target. There will be no massacre, no beheading, no riots. True Christians are a peace loving group my heart goes out to them today.
