Even we Atheists can see all the religious imagry which is being perverted everywhere. It's less to make you BELIEVE in religion, but to normalise the Transhumanism. https://khmezek.substack.com/p/its-not-about-harris-or-trump-its?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=258694&post_id=147011276&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=true&r=awp3e&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email

@RadicalCartoons Its all really horrible, I'm atheist but have friends who are deeply religious, yet they are fair game for ridicule and mockery. These women put in huge amounts of unpaid time to community-based projects, they also work on the premise of not being judgmental, but they are often the target of jokes and parody. The producers of the Paris spectacle knew that Christianity and the parody of women was an easy target. There will be no massacre, no beheading, no riots. True Christians are a peace loving group my heart goes out to them today.

@RadicalCartoons What ticks off many people who are not even religious is that we see ONE religion being mocked endlessly while certain other religions, with equally goofy/misogynous/anti-alphabet stuff, get a pass. Funny how right wing christians in the USA are said to be so evil but they are not pushing the idea of sawing off the heads of people who make fun of their religion.

@SandyD @RadicalCartoons Most people can cope with mockery or criticism. It's part of living in a society based on free speech. This was something else entirely. It was meant to be a celebration of what is supposed to be the best of the host country and the best of humanity. If this is what France wants us to celebrate, then I'll have to pass. You're not wrong about why it was Christianity that was mocked. Easy target. But there was also something disturbing about what we saw that goes beyond specific religions and comes from a place of worshiping all that is dark about the human spirit. Dare I say demonic?

@KeepTakingTheSoma @RadicalCartoons Perhaps that's what they wanted, the Olympics to become a zombie circus. It seems they are pretending to be shocked at the outrage. They want to target a different audience "the cool kids".

@SandyD @KeepTakingTheSoma It's the latest in a line of bizarre opening ceremonies with Pagan imagery. Look at the London Olympics 2012, and the Gotthard Base Tunnel opening ceremony in Switzerland!

@SandyD @RadicalCartoons I think that the tiny group that devised this genuinely thought that this was cutting edge and that the only people who would complain were the stupid uncool people that everyone would mock for being so square. They are completely out of touch. We know that this stuff encourages people to break boundaries and venerate the so-called marginalised and that's what this spectacle was about. That art might have quality is anathema to them and antithetical to this; in their world, the act of queering is enough. This is another case of the ideological rubber meeting the reality road. Most people have a line that cannot be crossed without at least some comment or dissent. I've realised over the past few years that more people than I thought have a vaguely-defined line that can be pushed further and further back through peer pressure or fear of negative consequences, but eventually they will say no. We will look back on all this and wonder how such a small number of people held so much sway.
