@TriptychTwinsRidesAgain @GrumpyOldNurse I haven't, but Inverness is getting there, I wonder what the hell the tourists must think. It's always had it's rough end but by God, that has spread to more and more areas, it is so run down, there is bugger all in the town centre worth bothering with, the Council charge insane commercial rates and that does not help the shops at all, even the charity shops are moving now, to further out parts, it didn't used to be as bad as this at all, it's a bloody rat hole.

I'd chat to the women (and one of the more decent men), bring them water and coffees, share my smoke with them now and again. All of them had been in care at some point, nearly all had a child somewhere. They were the epitome of being failed by others on every level. In their cases it probably was prolonged suicide. But this was 20 years back and heroin was incredibly rare in the north and amphetamines were largely party drugs for otherwise hard working students and young professionals. Something changed about 10 years ago and now shoot up corner has trebled in size, has sister locations all over the place and a much bigger menu. The demographic is a lot more mixed, many people there really shouldn't be there - I know no-one should be there, but there's now uni grads and upper working class kids who have had decent starts in life, so I think the psychology behind it is highly altered.
