@snerber I know that you're getting a lot of replies along the lines of 'this looks horrific and is reason 10,000 why I'm never having kids' (not gonna touch the why is she shaved, I don't think anyone should but I can come up with several scenarios that don't involve the 'normal' reasons) so I'd just like to say thanks for posting this. I've got 3 kids and delivered 2 of them vaginally. I had no idea of what it looks like during delivery, you can't see unless they have a mirror and you remember to look. It's a weird feeling to have had something so huge happen and have no real picture of how it can possibly work.Men draw dicks over everything and our bodies are secret, shameful mysteries. I fucking hate it.

@0cean @Gnomeshatecheese @terf_fret Just leaping into this section of the debate (like @gnomeshatecheese I don't feel confident enough to read apart the bell curve stuff because I don't know enough about the studies done) with anecdotal evidence to the contrary re successful rich men etc.I am a very 'intelligent' person. I went to top schools and university, worked in top finance firms. I don't like using this as part of my arguement because far too many people (*cough* usually men ime *cough*) use this sort of thing to say they're better than other people and it's just not true, it's a facet of your person like your height or food preferences. So apologies, but in this context it means that I can wholeheartedly say that rich successful business men are... not hugely clever as a group. Maybe slightly above average? A good grasp of what numbers/amounts mean is useful but the real 'skills' they possess over and above the general public are twofold. They are good with people. They understand how to motivate, manipulate, and what move people will make next. They come from rich backgrounds. Batman as a superhero with his superpower being ridiculously fucking rich is bang on. Wealth begats wealth.I know that anecdotal evidence isn't very strong, but it's a start. My own suspicions on the matter are that the intelligence tests applied are catered towards men (and probably particularly men from wealthier backgrounds in more developed nations). Even being able to say what intelligence actually constitutes is so hard. And there's things that are inherent, and things that are taught. How do you control for that? How do you control for your biases in defining intelligence - an example I'm always drawn to is men being more spatially skilled but dressmaking being a 'womanly' skill. Making a 3d shape out of 2d flexible components is really tough! You need spacial skills to do it!

@Kate_Kiss @GeorgiaMcGraw If anyone in the US wishes to record any side effect they think may be linked to a vaccination they can report to https://vaers.hhs.gov/about.html If I remember I'll try and find what the UK/European equivalent may be. I've had both doses and not had any menstruation related side effects, conversely I've been sterilised so I am not concerned about any fertility effects. There may be no easy answers here rn as there's also evidence that covid can cause long term organ damage. Before covid anti-vax meant, in what seemed like 99% of cases, anti medicine, anti science, ableist and often bigotted in other ways (depends on what brand of pseudoscience they believed in). It was irritating to see their arguements given the same weight in mainstream reporting. I'd have never banned them from discussion in a public forum but given how equal air time to anti vax and associated theories was causing actual harm (measles outbreaks as a quick example, chelation therapies for autistic children as another) I can see why some publications would outright say, this goes against our principles. Talking about being vaccine hesitant or whatever in today's context is a bit of a shit show. You have all the previously mentioned people being mixed up with people with more logical and sensible concerns. Different attitudes towards what public health is and what, if any responsibilities individuals and organisations have towards it, and the medical professions checkered past all contribute. Again, no easy answers.

@HebrideanHecate The burning was disgraceful but for some reason I can't get as worked up for public/outside defecation. It's disgusting but not as awful as plastic littering in terms of damage. Or burning the land. I wish people would stop seeing themselves as outside of nature, I can't help but think they'd respect the wild a lot more if they felt more of the interconnection between themselves, the land and every other living thing. But maybe not, because humans are a bit shit.

@tangleofsnakes Is this the one that used to have Kiva bay as a handle? If so this person is a woman. In a het relationship, perpetually grifting on twitter etc by claiming whatever victim status she can. I can't remember if there was some actual scamming involved as well (taking money for art or whatever that never appeared).

Something has been bothering me for a while and I don't know if I'm being homophobic (towards gay men) or not.I was listening to (podcast) what was billed as looking at that Canadian serial killer who killed gay men (usually of an ethnic minority, killer was white) and hid their bodies on his landscaping jobs. What most of the podcast turned into was examining the history of the village - Toronto's gay quarter - during the time that this killer started. And I started to get annoyed with the presenter. While homosexuality was illegal I can understand having clubs to meet up and have sex anonymously etc as a way to be and love without getting into trouble, this presenter seemed to insinuate that this whole, hyper sexualised gay scene that developed as a result was super fine and that objecting to public sex in public places once homosexuality wasn't outlawed anymore was still homophobia? That objecting to men fucking in public toilets meant you were an evil bigot? That thinking bath houses were where men went to fuck and that thinking anything was wrong with that (like you wouldn't be entirely on board with a hetereo version say - like, a private club is one thing but having sexual activity spill out into the surrounding area isn't, I guess maybe it depends on exactly what was going down for each club...) meant you were an evil right wing homophobe. Is thinking there's a time and a place for sexual activity (and I'm not talking PDA and I bet this presenter would conflate that if I said it to him) and that is not in public toilets, parks, streets and borderline in nightclubs (i.e. a private club might be different to an open dancefloor event) homophobic?

@Ladyfat @AnneBevan I had to leave a parenting group on Facebook because otherwise I'd have broken and gone on a massive rant at them. Or laughed at them and told them why - one of the straws that broke the camel's back was the praise for the 'gender neutral' hairdressers offering a 'safe space' for all the little narc theybies to go and have their special 'gender neutral' haircuts which was dyed green bowl cuts. Naturally this was in Brighton.

@Ember_Simone I did this, that's who does that. University did not want me (or any student I think) to fail for this. I was required to do a certain minimum amount of coursework for it at an acceptable standard before the semester end/the exam for the class and to pass the exam for that class. Which was doable with access to the class materials and notes. And cramming. If you are otherwise doing fine, I think you will be able to get past this. If you have other academic issues they may be less willing IF they show evidence of you not paying attention/slacking but that's by no means guaranteed.Like other posters have said, take a deep breath and do not panic. Don't put your head in the sand though either! What's done is done. Contact your personal tutor, the person teaching the class, academic lead, anyone suggested once you start talking to people. Express regret, and determination to do whatever you can to pass the course and graduate in December. Offer any reason or excuse that feels right if they appear to need that but your focus should be on progressing and sorting it out rather than trying to be excused for the fault. 'i don't know how it happened, I seem to have forgotten, this year has been crazy, *what can I do to go forward? This, that, or the other, will it help?*' is much easier to work with then an endless litany of woe (let's face it the last 18 months have been batshit crazy for everyone I'm sure there's plenty of legitimate woe you could offload) and just sitting expectantly at them. You can do this. I believe in you.

The recent evidence coming to light from Canada has troubled me in a weirdly personally way.My great grandfather was supposed to be a member of the Cree nation. He had been adopted by a white family and brought from Canada to the UK. This is family legend, bolstered by someone who does genealogical hobby stuff, but I've not seen the actual evidence for it myself. I thought on balance it was probably true, given how specific the details were, that it wasn't the whole 'related to tribe royalty' thing, and that it was also something of a family secret, rather than a bragging point. I try not to talk about it because of the whole stereotype of tiresome white woman romanticising about some tiny percentage of bipoc heritage.But.I have wondered about the circumstances of the adoption in the past. I have considered perhaps a multi racial baby being given up as relationship was bad/not approved of etc. I had not considered that he might have been stolen. That perhaps his mother was also a child who was then neglected and abused to death. That my family is the result of cultural genocide, just a successful white washing of this man's family.

@Clariana His genes live on but the whole family he made in the UK is completely cut off and disconnected from his family of origin. If he was adopted by a white overseas family in order to prevent the continuation of his people and culture... Then for him they were successful.

@strasser I'm sadly behind on my cock quota, although I was running out of space for the jars to keep them in so perhaps that's just as well.Is cock something that keeps you awake at night? Is it the worry that yours just *isn't* all that or are you tormented by the big juicy throbbing cocks of the chads you're too shy, too worried they might get the wrong (the right?) idea, to talk to?Also, the farms was turning into too much of a time sink for me, how many pages does transsalamander/tenacious unicorn ranch have now?

@Gnomeshatecheese @HebrideanHecate They only have recurve bows at the Olympics. It's a strength based sport. Compound bows are less work to draw but still take strength to draw, use and hold while aiming. I'm not surprised that he's done well, his height will be massively helping as well as the extra muscle strength. I am not sure if he's going to beat the Koreans though. They do nothing but practice drills on or off season, it's hard for the rest of the world to compete against them or at least that's what it used to be like, been a while since I did any archery.

Like, everything’s gotten so bullshit mad in the popular media, that I almost have a duty to wander about in my jeans and dungarees and baseball cap and t-shirts and shirts and hoodies and engineer boots AND a buzz cut and still be a loud and brash WOMAN just so allllllll the children that see me get on with my fucking life without having a panic attack about being called ‘she’
