       @chancerydaily I think I’ve sorted out why Elon erect a financial barrier to Twitter’s API. I suspect the NYT had to use Twitter’s API to run the program they used for this story.        @lauren @GoodVibes7472 While I care about what happens to Twitter, I do think the company is in a death spiral. My biggest concern at this point is what will fill the void following Twitter’s demise, because I don’t see a viable endgame where Elon manages to not run Twitter into the ground.

       @lauren @simon_lucy Elon is penny wise and pound foolish. He traded a $5 billion ad revenue stream for a relatively tiny revenue stream from Twitter Blue. The 2FA debacle is really no different. The “savings” from not permitting SMS 2FA messages will just end up alienating more users, hastening the platform’s decline.

       @lauren Musk is completely ill-suited to be Twitter CEO. He’s used to running companies with first mover advantage. He doesn’t really understand how to build a business that has stiff competition and how to entice consumers to his product (we’ll see how Tesla does in the next year or so with increasing EV competition).

       @lauren His lack of instance on product testing is pretty consistent with the development cycle of FSD. Nothing quite like inconsistent and poorly tested software being pushed out to beta test on public roads. It's great that Tesla drivers get to consent to participate, but I don't remember the public at large agreeing to participate in Musk's beta test.😐

       @benjaminwittes And nothing of value was lost leaving Musk’s smouldering pile crap. Old Twitter was useful, but Musk’s version deserves to fail.
