@ZachWeinersmith The base problem is that you're thinking of them as a group, and they're not. They're a lot of groups, under the lead of one person who says a lot (and I mean a LOT) of stuff he doesn't mean, and nobody believes...but they think 'he's our guy' and they know the secret code to what he really meant to say was (and leaders of each grouping reinforce this).Net result, three people at a MAGA/Trump rally hear the same speech, discard 70% of it. Venn with no overlap.

@ZachWeinersmith The explanation that sticks out in my mind is that 'conciousness' is mostly slight of hand the other direction, and it's post-hoc justifications for simplistic reasons, with some justifications for the upcoming reasons so you make those choices (so while you remember 'I chose to do this' your chronology is wrong, and you did it, then justified, then memory reordered events).I'm not saying it's right, but it's something that I think about, a bit. @Wolven I genuinely just assumed this was available, but rarely used. Like a 'disable replies/disable for non following/follower /hide but do not disable' or something.This is actually a really good example of why it's going to be important if/when I ever create something intended for a lot of people, that I need to solicit more opinions from people outside of my likeminded cohort (if I then choose to disregard, fine, but it helps to be aware!).

@ZachWeinersmith The way I always try to solve this sort of thing is to figure out where the light beam goes, and in this situation you have to figure out what curves you're talking about.There's probably a number of solutions where you don't get enough light back into your eyes to see anything!

@futurebird I think instead of 'elite' we are getting 'whore' because she is a woman, and no woman can be as successful as a man without cheating somehow. So, whore.I am starting to wonder if the race mixing stuff isn't just a way to incense the choir. She can be a part of two minorities, and you get none. And your racism is right black people are stupid because they can't see this obvious trick. Clearly all the racism was really right all along.

@leemadgwick So this is a situation where you just were like 'I want to draw something, but I'm not...entirely sure what' and just sort of scribbled for a bit until 'oh I see it now!' and it snapped into focus for you?I ask because I've done this with writing sometimes- I'll start with nonsense phrases and images and a phrase and all the sudden it was the middle part of a conversation, then I have part of a story- but I thought I was weird for doing that.

@nathans They aren't shy about reusing the gay panic stuff at the same time, too. I have a few very clear memories of when I was quite young, and even more once puberty started, about being gay ( even though I didn't come out till my early 20s), but I have been told multiple times in the past few years that's impossible.They are mostly going after trans people, but they are absolutely not being subtle about leaving the door open to attack gay people.

@futurebird Complete random thing, and I am not a crazy person- this works*!*Okay, so obviously as written fuck no. But sexing a bird is -super hard - for some species, but people get really good at it creepily fast, and can't explain -why- they are good (gestalt of incredibly minor signifiers), so they will, basically, 'know' with great (85%+) reliability. The weird string thing is just subconscious expression, easy to do. The crutch of a ritual helps it to be more easily expressed.

@AnarchoNinaAnalyzes What's impressive is that the conversation going on in media is all about how these countries can lower their tariffs and negotiate - except these numbers aren't based at all on the tariffs other countries charge- and if there is any relationship, it's actually inverted!They are based on trade deficits, so the only way to zero them would be a trade embargo- 'stop selling Americans your goods'.There isn't a dial for anyone to turn here.

And it's not even a presidential power, it's an emergency action allowed in a temporary crisis when the legislature is unable to conviene for a while ( intended as an invasion reaction or similar).But we are in an 'energy emergency' and the CR makes this session of the house be "one day' so it won't have the 120 day expiration timer. It's crazy, congress could end this at any point.

@futurebird If we cut out chat participation, this wouldn't be that hard to get going.Chat participation is really the minefield, for social interaction and legal reasons, moderation as well.But a series of games aimed at kids, some edutainment but just generally fun games, would be pretty easy to make happen, I think.
