I see a lot of posts to #fediblock talking about people sea-lioning them but... when you post to fediblock, yeah server admins and people wanting to stay ontop of blocks are going to question you about thingsSea lioning is when people come in irrelevantlyppl pointing out that you're providing a very bad standard of evidence and research for asking someone be banned from all instances following fediblock seems... well, like maybe you shouldn't post to fediblock if that's your block criteria

do not try to explain to me why people posting their concerns to you -- or people posting their concerns about fediblock and then responding to you threatening to fediblock them, is sealioning.If it is, the word has scope-crept enough to apply to "people pointing out you're fucking up" and at that point, you now have no litmus for when you're messing up, and should not be moderating.

if you are a reddit moderator being forced to reopen:coordinate with other mods to all delete your subs when they IPO, it'll probably destroy their Google results as half their links to dead just when r/funny dies, maiming their stock during the IPO and aftertake the CEO's threat, swallow the frog and make them feel like they won, and then scorched earth.

very interesting to me that KOSA is engineered to be no-win.Bill passes, most privacy on the Internet is lost, no way to have pseudonyms unlinked to your walletname at least at the business levelfight against the bill, and you become growing evidence about "the left" being pro grooming even though that's not at all what the bill actually is if you read it and are at all technical

does there exist a device which:- is bluetooth- presents as a bluetooth device to a computer- lets me have multiple connections hot at the same time- muxes these down into one bluetooth channelI want something that lets me hear all my audio sources, through one bluetooth headset. Laptop + desktop + tablet + phone.Instead of only the active one.As a last resort I am willing to pursue raspberry pi implimentations if you have ideas.please boost.

I don't think instance adminship comes with enough disclaimers about diplomacy, or the power dynamics inherent between you as an admin and people with accounts on your instanceespecially when you might be unpaid going up against a paid admin team, or one that has more time to gather facts/"facts" on any end of a disputebecause it's clear a lot of admins are at best unprepared and at worst malicious when their way doesn't work at the point where they interact with the broader web

@futurebird @afewbugs @lionelb just to add some context: I think a lot of people don't know you can set visiblity away from 'federate everywhere', and if you're on mastodon.social that causes a whole lot of randos to jump in, more than twitter ime, for basically any topic. But smaller instances? less bad.but it's so opaque to newcomers that I don't blame them for thinking it
