@signalapp I've used this feature a lot recently, thanks for building it!

@tilvids @collectifission incorporating more mid-level sensors into the single do everything device is cool, so I do find the 360-capture neat, but otherwise yeah totally agree. I'm disappointed #FairPhone 5 won't come out to the US this year, but the FairPhone 4 is still really cool and available in the US today from Murena. The #Librem5 is also really cool, and better on privacy/freedom, but not as good on sustainability. #LineageOs is probably the better answer for all of us looking for new.

@jaredwhite The Nebula model is interesting, and I wish they would at least have official fedi accounts for their creators sharing the links for community building, but I think only works because the ownership is by creators with existing built audiences. For new creators, you still need to find a home and build there before you can join something like that. 4/

@jaredwhite Some stuff on PeerTube has seemed to work. I've really liked tilvids.com and urbanists.video PeerTube instances but they require a lot of (free/near free) support from their admins which will make sustainability always a risk. Luckily, they are mostly in the "free information" nonprofit space, so they can likely partner with similar existing orgs + get donations, which isn't true for all content niches.5/

There seems to be a lot of vegan and vegetarians here. What are the best picky eater / kid friendly #vegan meals to try?

@killyourfm @thunderbird that does seem a necessary permission to sync to their cloud, are you saying there isn't an option to no sync to MS cloud?

@tilvids two years of single YT Premium (or one year of family YT Premium) is roughly one lifetime sub to Nebula or low level Patreoning of ~4 creators at current rates. With the ad blocking battles, it's likely those rates are going to jump sooner than later.

@mms if not the capital at least the center. France also has a lot of development next door with organizations like #framasoft and others, and similar with the Netherlands and #nlnet. I'm too geographically and culturally seperated to really know why, but I'd theorize it's the love of committees and bureaucracy and history driven fear of single organizations dominating society too much as well as wanting alternatives to US monopolies. Plus Germany has more funds than most to support nonprofits.

@ZachWeinersmith I think that'd increase demand further on an already low supply. We simply have a lot of supply side shortages in materials, workers, and prime land legally zoned for cost effective improvements that we need to address before subsidizing demand further (via lowering raters or rent controls) can make much of a difference.

@ZachWeinersmith maybe mittens would work better. Gloves seem too much like lingerie given these stats.

Not sure if I'll keep the font forever or not yet in this mode, but trying out the https://github.com/ipython/xkcd-font font in https://codeberg.org/martianh/mastodon.el in #emacs has been pretty enjoyable.

@mischievoustomato @vozercozer its amazing how much of the general population still doesn't use ad blockers and use ad-supported tiers of most servicss.
