And, it looks like there's a trans kindergartner at my kid's school. The younger brother of my kiddo's classmate, wants to pretend he is a girl. Seems the parents have decided his "social transition" is complete with a pink backpack and the occasional headband. They couldn't just let the boy have the god-damned backpack and not be fuckin' weirdos about it? Boys can wear pink, and headbands, and it doesn't mean anything. He's the youngest of two boys, so yeah, kid might be gay. But that's not a fuckin' problem in 2023! Fuck!

@LuvGreenTea2019 @tangleofsnakes I'm still confused what these morons thing "support the trans community" means. I support all humans having their human rights respected. That doesn't include allowing men to access children, women's toilets, prisons, change rooms, or sports. Just means they should not be denied a bank loan because they put on a dress. Or denied a job that they're perfectly able to perform and are qualified for and are otherwise perfectly suited to do (as in they would fit in with the already hired employees and not create a toxic work environment). Also not denied a rental for reasons that make no sense. So yes, deny a man a rental that is for women only. But a guy who wears weird shit, and wants to rent that ground floor 1 bedroom apartment in that run down old building over there, that stinks of cat piss.... if he's got the moolah, let him sign the damn rental agreement. He's gotta live somewhere and his mom's probably fucking tired of his music and porn addiction.

Think I'm getting under the skin of the homophobic woman hating ableist bigots on the Twitter. One just called me a "worthless piece of trash" 😂. Because she told a disabled woman she has no right to expect same sex care. Then got very butthurt when called out for her obvious hate for disabled women (and she threw in a homophobic thing about lesbians, just in case it wasn't clear that she is a bad person). So I said if she doesn't want anyone to respond to her rape apologia & homophobia, she shouldn't post rape apologia & homophobia. I am taking this as a win. The bigots are very upset that women are standing up for ourselves and one another.

@GalacticTurtle Yes, your parents are right. Ground floor apartments are more likely to get broken into. You should do a few things. Like meet your neighbours. Make sure you develope at least a reasonably friendly relationship with them, so that if you place does get broken into and they are home, maybe they tell the cops what they heard. I failed to meet my neighbours, and they decided they didn't want to talk to cops. So that was unpleasant. Also you should invest in security devices. Extra locks for the front door. And something to secure the patio door and windows.

Can any of the Quebecois spinsters give me a hand in identifying this old school snack/remedy. My mother was feeling under the weather and asked me to make rice pudding. I'd never made that before, so googled a recipe and whipped it up as quickly as I could before bringing it over. She took one bite and said it's too sweet and not what she remembers. Then she says maybe it's called blanc mange. But I googled that, and somehow it doesn't look right either. Does anyone know what she's talking about? Is it just rice pudding without the sugar?

@Flick Ooh maybe you can advise me... I have a carnation plant that my husband bought me for my birthday, with zero thought to me having absolutely no idea how to keep finicky flowers alive. I think I gave it too much sun, and also over watered it. Now I've moved it away from the direct sunlight and a single flower has returned to the plant. So it's not officially drowned. My father suggested that it would do well outside. I think he's wrong. It just needs something... maybe special fertilizer and for me to go easy with the watering. What do you think?

I know I've done that, but a lot of parents are super weird about explaining even the most basic things to their kids. I'm still shocked that there are people out there, who will not teach their kids the words vulva or penis.

Well, I need to vent. It's hot so I and a neighbour mom, took our kids to the pool. We had lots of fun cooling off, and swimming. Then this boy who must be in his late teens by now, who is known for being incredibly weird. Possibly autistic. No one knows for sure. But we do know he says inappropriate things, and now I know he gets handsy with women, and he tried to get at my daughter today. I'm livid. It's bad enough he tried feeling me up. The little fucking pervert. But after my mom-friend and I told him not to touch us, and we were leaving, he cornered my daughter and I, trying to "help" her with her towel. She had no idea what he was trying to do was wrong. I had to drop everything and get in his way, and stare him down til he left. I fucking hate that I'm not allowed to be more assertive. I can't call the cops on this kid. He's mentally unwell, and unstable. His parents know he's a menace, but they let him loose with zero supervision. The fucking kid lashes out violently. He doesn't understand how to be appropriate in public. What the fuck. I don't know what to do. But I'm pissed. My daughter is ok. She's only a bit sad we had to leave the pool.

@Fullycaffeinated I'm terrified I won't be believed. I'm white as hell, and he is not. I've already dealt before with a not-white assailant, trying to rape me on my university campus. And though there were witnesses, and he was a repeat offender, he was never officially caught. And I had to deal with questions about whether it was possible I misunderstood the situation or lead him on, by the cop who swore he was definitely taking it seriously (he was not). So I'm convinced that'll be the same deal here. Plus he's technically a juvenile. So it'll look like I'm an evil Karen, targeting a poor immigrant family with a mentally unwell child.

@Fullycaffeinated Yeah, I was raging mad. I wanted to kick his ass and throw him in the pool. But a) he's bigger than me, so who am I kidding and b) that's assault so I would get my own ass thrown in jail for the night. It's many layers of infuriating because now I have to consider having personal protective devices at the pool now. Nowhere is ever totally safe. It's gross enough that old men leer. But this kid has no understanding of physical boundaries and keeping hands to himself. So I don't know.

@Fullycaffeinated No, no lifeguards. It's hard to explain without doxxing myself. Imagine like a condo building with a pool. So you're your own lifeguards, and there's signage everywhere saying no diving but kids are all over it jumping in, and running around.
