My seed tin was getting ridiculous, so I treated myself to a fancy new one:

@TinyHouse4Life @Flick I think I'm going to try an ammo can. They have the gaskets to keep moisture out and they're a pretty good size.

@white_male @BowsacNoodle @Flick Thats another good idea. I wonder if you could thrown in those little packets that come with new shoes and purses and get the same results? 🤔

@TinyHouse4Life @white_male @Flick Yes you can. Those are silica. Rice will also work too. What's nice about the ammo boxes is they're large enough to fit smaller boxes, so you could keep them sorted by season or even planting month and have plenty of room.

@BowsacNoodle @white_male @Flick I need to go raid my dad's stuff and see if I can find one. I want to switch over to glass jars but I haven't been up with a good place to store the job. I like the ammo box idea. I might steal it. Thank you kind soul

@TinyHouse4Life @BowsacNoodle @Flick Definitely, but you should do some research on how much moisture per weight it can absorb and adjust to conditions.

@TinyHouse4Life @BowsacNoodle @Flick There's probably no need if you'll do the packaging in a dry area and the items themselves are dry, the packet will work against small amount of water anyways.

@white_male @BowsacNoodle @Flick Okay that I can do. If they are my own seeds I dry them on the counter for a few days before storing them.

@Flick I thought seeds were supposed to, you know, go in the ground. Not be accumulated in a box. Or are you planning a relocation to the Spitzbergen?

@Flick Ooh maybe you can advise me... I have a carnation plant that my husband bought me for my birthday, with zero thought to me having absolutely no idea how to keep finicky flowers alive. I think I gave it too much sun, and also over watered it. Now I've moved it away from the direct sunlight and a single flower has returned to the plant. So it's not officially drowned. My father suggested that it would do well outside. I think he's wrong. It just needs something... maybe special fertilizer and for me to go easy with the watering. What do you think?

@Kay I’m absolutely terrible with house plants. I didn’t even know you could have carnations as a house plant, tbh! @HebrideanHecate do you know anything about carnations as house plants?

@Kay I’d be surprised if too much sun was an issue, though: they like full sun in the garden, and you never get as much light indoors as out. Too near to the window might have other problems like temperature fluctuations, though.
