@breadandcircuses I'm a little concerned that plot may be misleading or at least incomplete. 'Near surface temperature'? I would expect a defined depth for time series measurements. And is it near the surface of the sea, or the land?

@aljazeera $14 million? Wow! What's their net annual income again? Ah! £37,370,000,000. That'll teach 'em! 😜

Quite an improvement in the overall recording quality for this sheepfold, compared to what was on the official files until now. All with a £400 drone deployed semi-casually during mountain walks. Why not make your own contribution to improving the presentation of Wales' heritage? The better the coverage and quality, the better our heritage will be protected and respected, rather than continuing to be seen as mere 'ruined piles of stones'.#wales #archaeology #heritage #cymru #eryri

@stux How one man nearly brought the entire US to its knees. Time for constitutional tweaks, both there and across much of the western world.

@Krisss I wish they would change those globe lights to anti-light pollution versions.

@EU_Commission Remarkably, such a small benefit is considerably better than any Brexit benefit we've seen (i.e., none).

@cody @lazerwalker Emulsifiers, where the product contains them, are a good reason not to consume.

@cody @lazerwalker Not really. I don't think anyone who lives in the countryside and has seen dairy go ultra-intensive in the past decade can think 'ooh, that's a good way to treat animals!'. Nor would they enjoy the way in which land has been turned to dust by the pressures of the market.

@cody No, we're good. You made me think more about the origins of butter. The general public won't consider it an animal product, even though it obviously is.

Over on the burgeoning BlueSky, I've just spent a moment explaining how I was immediately able to tell it was early evening according to this 19th century image of a sleeping shepherd. The poster was rather unbelieving and thought they were being had.I mean, how do you live a life and not notice what's going on in the sky and how it all works? It's not exactly difficult.People are weird.#astronomy #art

By far the largest ship graffiti yet found on Anglesey (see my foot, at upper right, for scale).

@futurebird It's generally held to be superstition by mariners, looking for protection; a form of physical prayer or something like that. There is a reasonable link between coastal churches and the graffiti, though it can be found well inland.
